Read somewhere JVC has come up with a 12 disc CD Changer that plays MP3 and CDs, supposedly compatilble with ALL factory fitted stereo. Said to be compatible with BMW, Audi, Alfa Merc and many others. Found out that the CD Changer has a built-in FM Modulator - Not dissimilar in function to the cigarette lighter blue thunder FM Modulator. Frequency between 88.1-89.9 MhzCheck it out. Wonder if it will work with the BMW stereo controls and display, and whether it can display the tags.http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MOD...athId=56&page=2P.S. Since no ICE section, still posting in this section.

saat,how much ah for tht?

Have asked my installer to get me the price.

In US it costs around USD170-200.

Maybe Van can look in Singapore.

Sony M'sia is having a promo of another CD Changer with RF but not MP3 for RM800.

But I want the MP3 playback capability. Since the MP3 are generally of lower sound quality than CD, I guess the RF is good enough. This unit can be hooked up along side the CD Changer. It has its own display and controls.

Very attactive.

saat,
aiyoo.. just read this thread. Am in Singapore now (Changi airport). Didn't bother to check my mail the last two days as I was attending a conference.
I went to SLS, Lucky Plaza and many other places. If I had known, I would have checked. I only contacted Van but he did not inform me of this new gadget (maybe he did not read this thread)... Shucks.. Maybe next time.

Oopps.. flight in 30 minutes... *cabut*

The changer is available in SG ... see the link below to JVC SG website ...

http://www.jvc-asia.com/sg/products/cdchangers.asp

I'm in KL already ... only managed to see this thread late last nite. So tied up the last 2 days ... cud not even go down to SG and pay my respect to the ICE Meister who was in town.

The changer shud be available via the usual JVC retailers .... will be in SG from the 30th-02nd Dec for training. Shall swing by the usual racun joints to check out the pricing and availability.

** Group buy, anyone ??? !!! ***

Cheers,

Van you find out the SIN price.

I'll get the price from my retailer.

Boleh sendiri pasang - Just power and arial cable.

I like the idea that I can still maintain and operate the stereo controls and the original CD Changer. It has its own slave display (to display the ID tag and play modes) and remote control.

I have tried the blue thunder RF modulator with my daughter's Creative Zen MP3 player. The sound quality is better than FM reception but as good as the ripping quality of the MP3 file. Quantity but not quality and if I want quality I switch to the CD changer.

Is it supposed to work with the stock HU of an E46? Just wondering how we will select the 12 CDs with only 6 buttons on the HU

MP3s... honestly.. I'd rather use and iPod which will hold far more data than a 12 CD changer.

The iPod is more mobile. I regularly update podcasts from iTunes and play in my car. .. carry it in and plug in. Currently using a cassette adapter.

Listening to fresh podcasts is a blessing when stuck in traffic.

Roger that, Saat. Will check it out and let you guys know. Based on the US price ... a rough estimate wud be to multiply it by a factor of 1.8 to cover the forex and freight etc for prices in SG.

Cheers,

Sorry it is called EZ MP3

RM99
Plugs into the cigarette lighter.
Sunway
7 frequency selection (but some already taken in Klang valley)
USB or Headphone connection
Has own play, pause, fast fwd controls

Similar to the later one discussed in the IAD prize thread.

My daughter prefers the headphone connection because she can view and control the song selection and playlist on the MP3 player.

Dont know if it charges the MP3 Player when connected using USB cable.

Can still maintain and operate the BMW steering and built-in stereo controls and the original CD Changer for source and volume.

12 CD = 7.8 GB. Lets get the pricing and then we do a full cost analysis.

Cost of iPOD = 2K for iPod a another 1K for interface cable

I have seen the BMW iPod interface in the MID and frankly it just doesnt cut it. My friend put in the AUX (headphone input) into the BMW HU and plug in his iPod and controls using the iPod

dudes!

nobody using the ipod interface kah?

whyaa? tot that wud be good? no mess, only no cd changer kan?

saat, wads ur take on this?
