Have to thank the promoted Geoffrey Briscoe for introducing the amazing Diesels in our market and giving new distributorship to customer friendly companies. Not to forget the speedy introduction of the new 5-series and the new 3-series in our market :top:The new Malaysia boss was formerly BMW Austria CEO-------------------------------------------------------------PETALING JAYA: Gerhard Pils has been appointed BMW Group Malaysia’s new president. He will assume his role effective July 1.After four years as president, BMW’s current president Geoffrey Briscoe has been promoted to a new position within the group. Briscoe saw the introduction of Malaysia’s widest range of diesel-engine alternatives in the premium segment under the BMW efficient-dynamics strategy, along with significant expansion of the BMW network of dealerships to enhance support for its customers throughout Malaysia. In a statement, Pils said: “I am very pleased to steer BMW Malaysia at a very important moment in the company’s history here in the country as the new number one brand in the premium automotive segment. However, while we look in the rear view mirror on what the excellent team at BMW Malaysia has successfully achieved together with our dealers, partners with great satisfaction, there is still much to look forward to in the beams of our headlights, moving forward. Exciting new BMW, MINI and two-wheelers are in the pipeline in which our Malaysian customers can look forward to in the future.”Prior to his appointment in Malaysia, Pils was the chief executive officer of BMW Group Austria. He has 26 years of experience within the BMW group.Pils said as of May 2012, 2,702 BMW, MINI and Motorrad vehicles were delivered. This represents a 17% increase from the same period in the previous year. He added that the second half of the year would continue to see the introduction of new products.“By gradually increasing our model portfolio, assembled in our plant in Kulim and with our logistics centre at Tanjung Pelepas, Johor Baru, supplying our organisation all across the Pacific region, we increasingly contribute to the nation’s economic development. Thus, we prove that our engagement in Malaysia has a sustainable and important relevance to the BMW group,” Pils said.Source
