sifus,my first breakdown need help with part no 1. yesterday I top off my coolant as i got a low coolant warning light. This morning when i drop off my missus at hartamas i hear a hissing sound. I noticed that part no 2 is missing and hot air/coolant is coming from there. Do i just need to replace the vent screw or do i need to replace the entire pipe?what coolant can i use? the one that i put is green color pre mix 50:50 but i heard from the net that says BMW coolant is blue color and is not pre mix. i also saw a a white slugish fluid in the coolant reservoir.is something wrong or its a sign that the coolant is old. should i flush the coolant and replace with new?http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AY72&mospid=47632&btnr=17_0214&hg=17&fg=05

did you by any chance try to bleed the system when topping up the coolant lately?

You can get the bleeder cap from chop shop or Bavarian Auto Spare part shop.

bro jarance why do you mean by bleed?top off untill it bleeds out from the top?this is my first time topup coolant by my self. from what i can see the leak was from part 2 as it looks like the part is missing..only rubber seal on top with 1 small hole. the coolant is bursting from there.

The cap will not blow off unless it is not tighten properly. Usually, you loosen the bleeder cap to bleed the air out
when you filling the radiator with water. See pic below

I didn't do that.for the pic the water hose vent screw is still there. There is another vent screw at the smaller hose attach to the water hose. That is the one that is missing. I can't recall whether the screw was tightened this morning but i haven't touch anything else except for the radiator cap when i top up my coolant

not to Hijack but... what is the pressure level to apply when doing pressure test to the Radiator System?

The Mechanic used 2.0 Bar (20psi?) then water comes out of the bleeder plastic pipe that is connected to the expansion tank...

The rush of water seems to come out of the smaller pipe Refer picture below...

*** A note from my friend says a pressure test of 1.3 bar is enough 2 bar is just crazy

If it just the other bleeder cap that is missing, get it replaced. RM20 is a small sum to pay to get your car running.

Remember to bleed your radiator properly first when you are filling with water. Dont use coolant for the time being.

When you are sure that there are no more leak, then only drain the radiator and filled with coolant/water.

tnks bro for the advice..i'm asking the mech to flush my remaining balance of coolant and replace with a new one.anyway my first time changing it since i got it.hope it doesn't effect other parts as the from the manual it says that it is dangerous if coolant fluid exposed to machine part when hot. can lead to fire.is it true?. If that how would i clean/wash my engine part? Just wanna know the fact first before that mech start bullshitting me later.

Meaning to say u should use 1.5bar for the expansion tank/radiator...

And cap test at 2 bar right?

The Mechanic may just damaged my gasket connection for the water hose...

Problem solved. as per suspected just the vent screw. replaced at both end. RM40. Second one i think is not necessary coz only one missing. Asked the mech to flush existing coolant and replace new one RM55 labor RM30 n RM 1.80 gov tax.
