guys,

let me start with a sigh (haihhh). i just sent my e46 to a workshop and that mechanics told me that i need to change my surbo. May i know how much a surbo actually cost ? FYI,im in penang now.

Please let me know ASAP coz i miss my e46 so muchhhhh.

Pardon me Dilla, i think the word is servo, a roundish thingy,black colour in your engine bay..Our friends here are right,bring your car to a reputable workshop..:listen:

Hi JFT, yes it's called servo.hihihihi.just found out. please excuse my lack of knowledge hehehe. Yes, i did bring my baby to a diffrent workshop. That mechanic told me that i need to change the servo.Total cost 1300 inclusive the servo parts which is 800. Is it a common price?

Jarance...Unfortunately no pic of that leak. When the mechanic gave me the old servo, i didnt notice any obvious leakage.huhuh maybe i was looking at the worng side of the servo hehehe. The mechanics said my baby will be discharged today. Will keep you and the rest updated.

Could it be something like below. see item #1. usually the O-ring need to be change if there is a leak between the servo and the oil reservoir.

Servo problem has been solved. Now alternator problem pulakk.Has changed the alternator but the mechanics said need to do enginer overhaul. Help me!!

Last weekend, i went to KL with my parents to do some shopping. We reached at hotel and wanted to check in, so i dropped my parents @ lobby. I shut my car engine but then i decided to park at dff side, so i accidentally turn on the car light without starting the engine and suddenly i heard a pop sound from the engine but then engine can still be turned on,so i moved my car. On the next day, i turned on my car, but lampu signal x menyala..cannot see mileage indicator, fuel tank light on, all symbols are on, cannot turn on aircond. So myself n parents sent to nearest workshop, and the mechanic said need to change the alternator.. so while that mechanic was changing the alternator, he said he sAw some leakage at the engine. So he recommendad to do overhaul. Now i just came back from KL, and yet to decide. Should i do overhaul or not? This car is killing me. Arghhh!!

I think leaking problem is common/well known for N42. Mine is also leaking "a bit". Once I got the low oil warning, check dip stick - too low, topup, drive back to Penang. Mechanic at ZF Auto said need to fix it but till today haven't.

See another reliable mechanic for 2nd opinion.Better ask the KL forumers...mind telling me why need overhauling?

what leak bro? water leak or oil leak? as for oil maybe you need to change the gasket or top overhaul. full overhaul u only do when your car is either have white smoke from exhaust or water get into the engine

btw i was wondering the relationship for turning on the light without the engine running leads to alternator fail? does e46 like this? i thought the battry go dead...

2weeks ago I repaired oil leak on my e46... Oil puddles on floor, u can see the oil dripping every few minutes...
Changed oil sump gasket and oil filter housing gasket, solved problem.
If only oil leaking and no white smoke or engine knocking sounds, like other bros mentioned then should not need overhaul...

Your prob with the lights seems to be more an electrical problem and not engine problem...
