need help... GEARBOX PROB..

gearbox prob... need you all oppinions whether overhaul or just change the parts.. i m already check with the specialist. 1st scan the prob is SOLENOID VALVE 2nd also SOLENOID VALVE.... how much the cost for overhaul gearbox or change the part of make a prob....

whats the exact symptoms? Wat gearbox model you referring to?

Does gear slip or doesn't up gear automatically?

If really its just the solenoid valve, then you are very lucky Just need to get the solenoid valve that was diagnosed defective, remove gearbox oil pan, change out solenoid, top up a bit of ATF then your gearbox will be working well.

i m not sure what modellah.. coz i new hehheh... gearbox auto.. my engine M50. its just ran underpower like gear3 or 4. thanks jiraye... realy apprct.

I presume that you have also the symbol of the "Gear with !" comes on.

If it is the solenoid problem, then you need to just change the solenoids.

Normally, it is recommend to change both of the solenoids even though one of the them is faulty.

You will need to replace the following:-
1. Original ATF oil for BMW gearbox.
2. Original ATF filter
3. Set of solenoids
4. Gasket or o-ring.

actually what do you mean ran underpower? is your gearbox warning light constantly after you start the car? if yes then you are in "limp mode", gearbox always in gear 3 (if i am not wrong).

If diagnostic say solenoid valve, then change out try try first. Even if wrong, at least you know u have got a new solenoid valve in your gearbox should u choose to overhaul the gearbox If i am not wrong, 1 valve around 2-300 rm for GM 4spd gearbox (my previous gearbox)...

Hello Bro...just had the same problem this afternoon..the gear symbol light came up after I ran on sport gear mode but after shutting down the engine for a while start again and the light goes off..what might be the problem...later went for a spin..nothing seems wrong..really pening man...

Hi bro,

I'm driving e46 325, had this prob 1 month ago after changing the gearbox oil. What I did was change 1 of the solenoid and the gear when smooth as today. My advise is to most of them if budget allows. cheers
