Correct me if Im wrong but I thought we can only upgrade our engine up to 300CC from our current engine because its one of the PUSPAKOMs regulations.

Wasn't it 30% above your car's current engine capacity? I'm not 100% sure though, just something I heard over the years.

ok, the reason i want to change because 6 silinder is very easy to find compare to 4 silinder sparepart for the future, any member can advise me... please help me.

If I can remembered correctly, you have to get approval letter from JPJ in PutraJaya first, then local puspacom & JPJ will proceed with the inspections & documentations..., all these can be done by a good-runner...hehe.

And normally, they are not so strict on continental cars..., but for sure Wira and the gangs won't get approved if convert to EVO or VR4 la....

what bro wan520i mention is correct.... i've converted my e36 318 to 325 last year and it is not much a hassle if the runner really how to do it. A lot of runners claim that they know how to do it but in actual fact they are not very sure (try & error). This will eventually spend more money. This is what happen to my runner. But i think he is the expert now...

JPJ are not really strict on continental car as long as you follow to regulation that they stated in their web site... This is where i found out some infor and inform my runner of how to go about it.

Firstly, you need to go to JPJ Putrjaya to get a approval letter together with the document of where you obtain the 'new' engine from & letter from the owner of why you 1 2 change the engine.

Once you obtain this approval letter, you need to send your car to Puspakom for inpection to see whether your car follow the criteria which stated in the approval letter.

Once done /approve take all the document to the nearest state JPJ for the endosement on your car card.

DONE.... As simple as that right....

thank you for statement, in the end disember i will convert to 325, after new year maybe want to upgrade 328,

it very much depend on what you 1 2 spend....

engine will be ranging around RM5k-6k... Make sure you get a complete engine for the conversion. Some charge RM5k for the engine but without the exhaust system so LPPL

preventive maintainance will be around RM2k-3k depend on how perfect ur engine you want it to be..

Labour on swaping engine... RM2k-3k. Different workshop charge differently....

JPJ will be around RM1k some get cheaper then this

Total cost will around RM 10k-13k

Another fren of mine oso converted legally from 1.8 to 2.5.. Just a few more etra procedure to go through.. as per what was shared by alipon.

Anyway, M42B18 oso a good option for upgrade.. :p
Stock 140hp.. but must be manual to truly feel the power and handling... the E36 318is with the M42 was touted by motoring magazine as the best all rounder of the E36 range...

Cheapest way ..................M42B18 but as Fabian said must be manual tranny ......

Idea way ..................M52B28tu but the conversion will cost u bomb and roadtax is high .......

Normal way ..............M50B25tu if possible wit 5 speed auto box........

Better way .........M50B25tu wit 2.8 stroker kit ....plug and play ..... higher torque and hp wit 2.5 roadtax.....

Perfect way .........M50b25tu wit 3.0 or 3.2 stroker kit with manual tranny .......High power with low roadtax............

So end of the day ....its depend wat u want and wat ur budget for the conversion .............

But most important thing is find a complete and good condition engine wit a very reliable workshop for the job .........

gud luck
