Guys, my E46 gearbox kong'ed on November 2008.i racked up a hefty bill of RM8k for the recond of the box from this workshop lets call X.X told me that this GEARBOX will have 6 months warranty. Expensive as hell. But car moving again. Paid, left.last week, while driving... i saw the rear view mirror....whole car smoking like turbo car blew turbo seal.reach home whole car smoking. found out that the gearbox "F"ed again. so i got the car towed to X workshop, as it still fallz underwarranty.after a week bla bla bla of messing with my car. he pre-amp me that i have to fork out 1k ++ for a part call the gearbox oil pump. I dont like to short change people, and i dont like to be taken for a ride. i called 2 workshop and they told me a rebuild/recond should include the gearbox oil pump. What should i do now?

or appropriately, how should i handle the situation?

if i insist not to pay, my warranty will cut short and maybe next time i cant go back.

also, say my warranty is 6 months and the 5th month it kong-ed. after repairing, would my warranty be extended another 6 months ?

Did you speak to the staff or the boss? Suggest you speak to the boss.

Bro, from what u said. getting a recond 8k is like abit expensive.
I would recomment u to go for other workshop.
i ahve a friend who is gearbox specialist. he work for a lot luxurious gearbox, specialist in all type of gearbox.
he just start up his own workshop recently, so definitely can give u a good price.
his name is Ah Mun, hp no: 0196643643. his work shop at sri kembangan.
try give him a call and tell him claven introduce he will give u a better price.

The workshop should repair the gearbox for you FOC since its still under their warranty. I suggest you try the soft approach first and let him know that you have the facts, ie. gearbox oil pump should be covered under warranty. At worst maybe negotiate for a compromise in the price? You may want to let him know you are willing to take this to authorities if this is not settled amicably. Bring a friend if you feel your nego skills are not up to the task.

Bottom line is if the dispute gets out of hand, you might end up having to tow your car to another workshop to replace the part yourself and paying RM1K++. That and your principles should decide how to handle this!

Hope everything works out... good luck!
