Dear Bros,Any of you all experiencing your X5 "shiver" when drives above 100kph? it seems to be wheel balancing issue but it is still there after i did balancing on both my fronts. each requires 140gm of weight to balance the wheel. The level of "shiver" did reduces but it is still there and it is especially obvious when i lifted the accelerator. Will try to do the rear wheel balancing tomorrow. Any advice or comment??

Might be because rims bengkok or tyre got bump hence the vibration. My e60 also like that. Went through the same troubleshooting steps. Tyre was at fault.

Bro....
Balancing done on wheel or off...
Only did balancing for the front?
Try to do off wheel balancing n if any of the wheel abit dent put it at the back....

aku bawak lori dan bas....ko adaaaaa...

did the rear wheel balancing... a whopping 130gm and 200gm for each of the rears. one of the wheel was wobbling a tiny bit but rather obvious on the balancing machine. Was asked to go to engineering to correct the wobbling wheel which is due to imperfect roundness. Went and checked at a rim repair shop. No dent or imperfection was detected!! The "shiver" did futher reduces after the rear wheel balancing. Asked another fellow X5er to test it and he found it to be ok.

puzzled why the wheel was wobbling on the balancing machine but was found to be ok at rim repair shop instead.....:stupid:

Bro some times this tyre shop their machine is not calibrate at all...
Day in day out how many time did the balancing...
So if still needs try a diff shop and see the results...

If you stay near the PJ area, I would recommend you bring your car to MPS Auto in Sunway. Ask them to do balancing and see whether if the rim is really bent or not. If it is bent, they can send it to a nearby shop to get it repaired.

I'm staying Shah Alam and send my car for balancing in Batu Belah Klang area...
So far I'm satisfied this tyre shop...

Redo wheel balancing in another tyre shop n the problem still persist. Then went back the tyre shop where I got the tyre. They found out the tyre is full of "tear"!! They claimed that it is due to riding on gravel surface!

i think my front tyres are not able to be balanced! really dissapointed with continental! being a premium brand tyre and it can come this situation after about a year of use and has only clocked in 15,000 KM and it is a RFT!! Now i think needs to get a new pair of front shoe... pirelli P zero RFT??? got a quote for RM1,800 a piece.... ok ka?

I'm surprised; conti works best for most SUVs including my range rover sport

Tyres seem to be more worn out on the inside than outside (excessive chamber or toe?)
You need good alignment lah

it is more worn out on the outside... my alighment seems good though. The tyre shop fella said it could be due to under inflated as i only pump 200kpa instead what they normally recommendation of 220kpa. but will do a check on the alignment too.
