day 18..headache...arrgghhh...car speed froze @180kmh @4k rpm on 4th/5th gear..what cud be the problem?some says fuel pump..the other says distributor..another guy suggest exhaust..me said..sleep n lets think of it tomorrow..ha ha..:sleep:

googled, been asking around on E28 clubs..all telling me e28 either jap/euro never equipped with speed cut..but havent try swap ecu yet..will give it a try tomorrow..(maybe faulty ecu?)who knows..by the way tacho seems ok..dah test with few gps..same speed

day 19..mystery unsolved..tuned up..changed distributor..advanced rotor..new cap+cable..car tested @guthrie highway..4th gear speed @180kmh 6k rpm slightly downhill..barely touch 190kmh..5th gear 4k rpm speed froze @180kmh..:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

what's the chassis number on the ECU u using now ? from there u can get the origins of the ECU location.

another thing is your distributor, advance or retard ? check and see the both the diaphragm is working..

have u done your steering alignment ? on my e30, the car did not want to go beyond 120km. did the alignment, then it could go max out at 192km..this M40 engine..

The problem is there. It should advance.

Try another distributor. If advance is working, u will have pick up n top end as the retard will enable higher speed.
