^ both b6 & b8 looks same. one has a longer shaft to the other. b6 are meant to be paired with ori springs and b8 is meant to be paired with sports/lowering springs. simple way is get the part number at bilstein web & compare it.

RM736 of pain.

Sigh.. there goes my spacers budget..

Have not checked in to the forum for a long time and was nice to see you spending time with your E36. Well it's a never ending story when you are taking care of your ride but it's a rewarding job when the car is running sweetly. Take good care of this ride for more smiles.

Next mod.. plan to do a slight revamp of the headlights..

-smoke the signals
-smoke the reflectors (eek!)

still not sure if I'm gonna use vinyl or spray..

Wasn't too happy with the new headlamps. Manufacturer claimed they are eco-friendly :laugh:

So I decided to mod em;

Glass housing with the lens.

Cut out the existing silicone;

The lens removed, ignore the taped center..

Lay some dark grey stuff over it;

Pulled & cut it to fit;

The result;

Let there be light;
2012-08-21-436.jpg

Just ignore the stone chipped glass housing =(

My original plan was to smoke all 4 lens.. but my fish fingers managed to drop one of 'em so that plan was shattered (literally). So I removed it entirely. I find using the projectors with the lens made the light scatter instead of projected.

The lens are pretty much totally blacked during daylight.. didnt seem to hamper light output at all :rock:

Nice updates, looking fierce with the black and dark headlights.

Nice blackout headlights.. you should make the other yellow like this... very nice! :love:

Thanks. Smashing one of the lenses sucks.

I did contemplate that, but I rather tint the lens rather than the reflector.. but since I manage to drop & smash one of the high beam lens.. that idea was scrapped.. anyone got a spare?

Bro chrix, nice e36 and well done on DIY.

Thanks!

Seriously planning to change to M52 head to fix the leaking. Changed the gasket about a year ago..now its leaking again.

Anyone have any experience on this?, cost involved? Is it a good move?

Getting ur vanos seal changed? A rewarding one. Get it done and you'll love it.

And those wheels are rare to come by. Mostly in the market are replicas. If you can get those original forged staggered ones, you're one lucky Harry. Good luck bro. One of my Fav wheels for the e36 too.

Ha, not yet.. just changed the valve cover to try to solve the leaking. But the vanos seal is in the near future when they head is off to further troubleshoot the stubborn leaking.
