guys,i've got a slight problem..i recently bought and installed a 2nd hand MTech2 front bumper onto my 2000 E46.it was initially installed without the brake ducts and foggies and the fit was perfect.afterwards i bought the ducts and after reinstalling with all the bits and pieces i noticed that there was a 0.5cm gap between the bumper and body.needless to say it was unsightly and i was getting comments from people about the gap.even makciks were noticing it!!!!i brought it back the Granpire to have a look see but they said there's nothing they cud do as it was original and they had fitted it using all the original mounting points.i'm perplexed..am i missing something here???this is so frustrating.. i hope u guys can help me out here.i know its a small quirk but its so irritating!!!! can't stand it!!!

wah.. i know my new bumper has some gap after continuous scraping at underground carparks! u mention it was ngam initially? maybe it 'sagged' over time due to the same reason as mine, but u only realised when u reinstalled it? emm, i guess u cud try play around with the brackets..?

issit your wan is fibre or original...if fibre i can recomend u fix the bumper with gum...look nicer and not running space...need help pm me...

 nah..its original la.that's why its so perplexing!! it fit'd like a glove when i first installed it without the brake ducts and foggies.after fitting the ducts and foggies (which required the bumper to be taken out) and reinstalling the bumper, the fitting was bad..hence the gap.

the guys at granpire tried playing around with the bumper but the gap was still there.maybe i shud go somewhere else to have a look..i know there is something amiss cuz its all original(bumper, ducts, foggies, brackets).

Supergripen,
I was that close to buying the Grandpire version of the Mtech 2 bumper n sideskirts. In the end went for the original. Quite costly but worth it.

Weird lah! If its original, it shd not be an issue.
Sori...bulan pose lerr...baca dua kali pun blurr lagi....

:D no hal bro,understand exactly what u mean!!!! yeah,its perplexing lah,original shudn't be like that..dunno why??!!

Hi bro, i think that is normal. My PreFL 02 E46 has this also... I had some headache initially but after a while, live and let live.
If you look closely, there is a rubber strip inbetween the bumper and body. THis makes it harder to close the gap. I went to a few workshops and they all told me not much they can do. It is a PreFL problem...
As long as it is balanced, ok la. Go look at the other E46s whenever you see one. You will see that all the gaps are quite big. Mine is about 0.5cm as well. Can almost stick in my pinkie finger!

I had a friend who said the gap can be reduced by adjusting the 2 huge beams that hold the bumper up. He did it after someone knocked into him. This is a big job.. not worth paying for.

hope this helps you cure your sleepless nights

:D

 i just can't accept such imperfection on such a prestigious make..its so frustrating.i'm not a perfectionist but there are some things that i just can't accept.

i'll probably go for a different front bumper, maybe m3 or sumthin'.such a bummer cuz i like the mtech2 look the most.

hell, even my Kelisa has got more consistent gaps!!!! that's why its such an eyesore..

adliz's and shedden's look especially good...hmmmmm  although their's seems a bit too low for practical everyday driving.

just out of curiousity, how much did it cost ur freind to adjust the beam?? and which beam are we talking about?
