Earlier this week, Mercedes-Benz has issued a global recall affecting some 100,000 units of the W204 C-Class and W212 E-Class. Cause of the recall is the possible loss of power steering fluid during low speed maneuvers, leading to loss of power steering assist. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia quickly followed up on the situation with a press statement released yesterday assuring its customers that units of the C-Class and E-Class produced CKD in Pekan are NOT affected by the recall and that owners of these cars need not worry about the safety of their vehicles. However, the company did identify 38 vehicles, fully imported CBU from Germany, which are part of the recall. Owners of these 38 vehicles, consisting mainly of the E-Class Coupe, have been contacted directly by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia via its network of dealerships and rectification work, which is said to take no more than 30 minutes, will be carried out accordingly. Seems like we are seeing a number of car manufacturers recalling their cars due to some defects. What is happening?
