M43 vs N42

Maintenance for a BMW 318i M43 is cheaper compared to BMW 318i N42? Recently I found 1 318i M43 i really like and it's white color. The interior leather is still in very good shape, no cracks, scratches.Really plan to get it but im not good in identifying defects or problematic partscoz BMW is a whole new league to me. Even though i've read through several articlesbout BMW, its still difficult to digest.

The 1 i found is E46.

Get it to a visual inspection & computer diagnostic at a BMW workshop. It'll basically tells you what's the condition it's in as well as the wear & tear parts tht nd to change.

Yes I would say M43 is cheaper to maintain than the N42

maintainability = M43

less hassle = M43
more hassle = N42

N42 just need a bit more attention to those oil seals, rubber gasket and o-rings which will definitely fail after around 4-5 years, other than that it's okay

1 more thing...for N42 engine please dont follow ur 25k indicator service..its not suitable for our weather...bloody hot..!!

if u dont want the oil sludge to be like parasite in ur head block please go maximum 10k..and the best is every 5k if u can afford..

N42 engine oil = 4 liters

change it frequently..and also like our friend zeedo said..give more attention to any engine seal that ez to tear and wear..it will save u from a bomb bill..
