I supposed this boils down to one's preference. Its like asking who is the greatest golfer of all times.... Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Niklaus or Woods. Or like in basketball, whether Wilt Chamberlain is greater than Shaq...

The EVO 2 was an awesome car at its heyday, the E36 M3 was somewhat a letdown but BMW fixed whatever shortcomings with the introduction of the E46 M3. My preference is with the CLS II

E30 M3 => since it is only made in LHD, good for collection
E36 M3 => looks too normal
E46 M3 => is a very good daily drive car indeed
