Lower Trim Panel under steering wheel

Just to check what is the plastic panel for on the right side? Mine me as i have not seen that panel before therefore are here to make sure that is really fit.

Anyone Kindly advice, am driving a E30 318 1989.

Harry811 - Do you mean you want a steering rack for an E30? What is wrong with yours? if it is leaking then all you need to do is overhaul it. remove it and change the seals refill it and bleed. It'll give you years of good service.
