Hi Sifu out there, somebody please help me. My E28 525i on sudden loss power 1 week already. The problem If i tekan the accelerator until RPM 2000 and above engine loss power MPG teruk.... badly. I already change the spark plug n coil, but the same.. no difference. Air filter change new one... Pick-up all have... if clutch plate gone sure engine rev high, but no problem on first gear. If I stop neutral.... tekan pedal RPM engine no problem.... only when jalan..... feel like lorry with heavy load can't move..... what seems to be the problem? Engine when stop , tekan minyak very smooth.... What to do? Please help...
 
i m not sure of these, but frankly mine happen the same, then change the
fan clutch and some tuning again.get it diagnose somehow if to be certain...sorry if i m not helping with this comment

Somemore... forgot to mention.... If I press the accelerator, the MPG meter respond to the right but RPM too slow respond. Normally MPG higher RPM also the same, but now different ..... ignition coil I already change.... how to check the AFM then?
 
Anyone know any mechanic in JB with good svc & reasonable price,,,.... don't send me o the slaughter house.... gotta send my car for checking what's wrong with it. Kancil pun lagi laju aaaa....
 
do a compression test. this will give you condition of your engine internals.

but unless your cars is v. high mileage ro badly services it's prob not your engine internals. Most prob ignition or fuel deliv or a pc problem
 
i had this problem once. it's like when it's in free gear and standstill you can rev but engage second gear onwards cannot rev pass 3000. after 3000 feels like cut-off and rev will drop down. checked every thing, afm, sensor, timing, distributor, asv and what not.

in the end its the fuel float and intank filter and filter in engine bay clogged and also fuel pump kaput because tank was dirty. why dont you check these things?

best advise, take it to a good bmw mech who is familiar with your model.

He should check the simple stuff first (filter, fuel pump, compression). a good mechanic will know how to do simple test on these and not change parts unnecessarily.

Imho: my 1st bet its something electronic since you engine is smooth at idle. Most likely with high few consumption and smooth idle you may be running way too rich. This would be due to the AFM, or Os2 sensor or computer malfunction. my 2nd bet its a fuel problem.

Basically its mech, fuel, ignition or electronics. Mech tend to wear gradually and acutally last for ages w/oil changes. elect "go" more suddenly. Fuel (essentially pressure & injector clean) & ignition (essential spark & timing) are quite easily checked. A good mech will diagnose systematically.

31 JUNE 06. FOUND THE CULPRIT.
1. I TOOK OUT THE FUEL PUMP & FILTER, CLEAN IT, TOOK OUT THE FILTER INSIDE THE FUEL PUMP, NICELY BLOW WITH AIR GUN, CLEAN WITH PETROL.
2. CHANGE SPARK PLUG 8WDC - 6 PCS FOR RM 22.50.
3. ADJUST THE DISTRIBUTOR & AFM....

WALLA... GOT THE SPEED BACK... ON TRACK...EASILY 180KMH HIWAY.....
WATCH OUT FOR THE GREY E28.... 525i...
