Hi guys, looking to get a 535 2012 UK recond unit, I checked it out and it looks good to me, but I still want an expert to go have detailed inspection, can you guys help to recommend some BMW experts whom I can bring the car over for inspection?I was also told by the salesman to sign up for OpalAutomart insurance for peace of mind in case of major repairs, anyone here signed up? Is the support and service good?cheers :)

u can do full check up with wearnes autohause.. find their contact in vendor section... i did mine with them

Hi guys. Just recently joined the forum. I got a 535 recon from UK back in 2012. Gearbox a bit jerky and so far ingress diagnostics say its ok. This brings me to opal automart. Not sure if its too late for you but I would recommend not to go with the opal warranty. Pointless. I got it thinking its protection but it requires strict 6 month service intervals which is fine. But they need you to go to their panel workshops. For older bmws I think thats ok. But back in 2012 and early 2013 these panel workshops dunno how to service such a new model. My car was run on a dyno and burnt half the petrol from my full tank! Trial and error.... geez.. so I have a feeling tht the jerky gearbox now is due to the unskilled workshop. Needless to say I burnt the opal warranty for the sake of better service quality on my car.... no refund, no care bu opal eventhough it was due to the poor quality of their panel workshops.

Jerky gearbox is not unusual, I think. Happens more so in Sport mode than Normal. Comfort is usually very very smooth. Basically the dealers just reset the software again and generally that helps. Also, don't bank on the authorized dealers being able to do a better job despite paying good money. Sometimes they do, sometimes not.

Curious, how much power did your car make on the dyno?

Granted the authorised service centres not necessarily better but after my experience with the opal panel worshop I wud rather stick to bmw service centre for now. I figured the F10 was still too new for the outside worshops and so they probably employ a bit too much trial and error. The thing is my gearbox is smooth at higher speeds but its cranky in slow crawling speeds like in traffic. Software reset helps for a while then it gets jerky after a few weeks.

And no dyno readings available as the opal workshop just ran the car on dyno more so to get a feel of the problem to try to fix it rather than to get any readings off the car. Will dyno after I re-chip the car. Looking for a good rechipping for the 535 now... :)
