Looking for E21 parts

Two words: MAIL ORDER

Not to be rude or discouraging, but the parts which you seek are almost non existant locally. Whatever I have come across is equivalent to scrap. Sorry.

Most parts for engine, suspension and other mechanical stuff should still be relatively easy to get. However, the main problem is that the mainstream parts suppliers like Bavarian Autoparts and maybe Stuttgart tend to look down on the older bimmer owners and no longer carry nor intend to support us. Their excuse is that they need the space for the newer car parts, first its the e21 parts, soon it will be the e30 and next the e36. Proly its because the margin on the parts are significantly lower. Have not tried Auto Bavaria or BMW Malaysia.

Smaller parts suppliers do carry older bimmer parts - mostly old stocks. Some may be willing to order for you.

Interior parts are near impossible to find in our local shops - For this, u need to trawl ebay, in the US and the UK. I just bought the centre control panel (new) with the a pair of air cond grilles for EUR35 including postage. Also bought a FOHA rear spoiler last year for about GBP40 and a new speedometer (just the meter) for GBP40 - had to get my brother to bring back from London tho.

My main suppliers are:

CSS Auto
Bomin
First Division

They are all located on Jalan Ipoh KL.

Am told their postage rates are fair.

ichiwan,

I'm not discouraging him, just preparing his pockets...........hheehehehehe :D

My 2 words: Why E21?

It don't end, aint it? How much is expensive somewhat relative and subjective...And that's what Relativity Theory is all about...

But looking at some owners spend on their wheels here, e30 , e34 etc say on RM2500 rims, etc etc, i think it may be of no difference to e21?

I mean you wouldn't believe how much one would spend on Old VW Bettle or the way my friend spend on his old Porche...

If u hv $$$, you have no worries... E21 is what u want to for good or bad, health or sickness, bla bla... I mean, if u like the contour of her body, the shape of shark nose, or not so big rear end...... yet conservative and innocent looks... Well u don't have to spend so much $$$ on e21, because of parts standardization shared amongst model. eg. M20 engine is used in e21, e28, e30, e34....

Well, just ask CHIEF ICHIWAN to organize another "older bimmers meet" for 2006 opening, and u can see and ask "antique" owners of many '02, e21, e23, e24, e28, e30 about parts, stories, hints, repairs, body knocking, paintjobs, modern parts that can be used etc etc...

Long Live Chief Ichi... :D

if i m not mistaken, BMW just stop production for e21 parts not long ago, a year back or so. But i may be wrong again.

If other spare parts shops failed, you can always head down to Auto Bavaria, give them the part number you require, then AB will check or source if the part is available in kl, or singapore or even in Germany. If still got stock, go get it. If not, then too bad.

Alternative, follow nsbone and ichi idea.

But then again, what part are you looking for.

1) spare parts
2) accessories
3) wear/tear items

hum..if u r looking for interior parts(like chief ichi said),is nearly impossible...but u can still find it through e-bay and bmw mags and mail order it(like master kev said).
i usually go to where all the other e21 owners go to find parts regarding the engine n exterior parts(CSS,BOMIN,FIRST DIV. n etc).
anyway, best of luck finding the parts!!... :eek:k:
do join e21 owners club...and join the path of chief ichi...haha
long live chief ichi!!... :D

Don't mean to hijack this thread or anything, but I'm also looking for some parts.
For now, looking for dashboard and steering wheel. Can an E30's fit into an E21?
