One of the killer's victims, Anneli Alderton, is reported to have climbed into a blue BMW in Ipswich last week. The information was passed to police after another Ipswich prostitute reported the sighting to journalists.Detective Chief Supt Stewart Gull was asked if officers were "eager to speak" to the driver of that car. He said: "We are still trying to piece together Anneli's last movements. "We have received a significant volume of calls from across Suffolk and further afield and a lot of interesting information has come in. That is just one aspect we are looking at." Det Ch Insp Gull said detectives were not specifically linking the deaths of the five women to any previous killings or disappearances of prostitutes in East Anglia or in other parts of the UK. "We are clearly aware of a number of other crimes," he said. "We will look at any similarities but at the moment our focus is here in Suffolk and on the crimes we are currently dealing with. We are not at this stage linking these murders to anything else." Police are also trying to establish if clothing found in an Ipswich river is linked to the deaths of five prostitutes in the town. Det Ch Insp Gull said clothing had been found in different locations across Ipswich. "We will now take our time to analyse that and see if it is of any relevance," he said. "Clearly we are still looking for confirmed sightings of where the girls were and what they were actually wearing." So far, three prostitutes have been murdered, while the bodies of two further women have been found naked in woodland nearby. A post mortem is being carried out on one of the bodies while the second body remains in woodland while forensics experts examine the area. Gemma Adams, 25, was found in a stream at Hintlesham on December 2. Tania Nichol, 19, was found in the same stream at Copdock on December 8 and Anneli Alderton, 24, was found in woods at Nacton on Sunday. Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls were reported missing earlier this week. All five women worked as prostitutes in Ipswich and detectives fear a serial killer is targeting women in the town's red light district. Police say they urgently need to find the clothes worn by Miss Adams, Miss Nichol and Miss Alderton. Forensic experts are already examining a training shoe - found in Ipswich last week - to see whether it belonged to Miss Adams. © Independent Television News Limited 2006. All rights reserved
