I notice that several thread has already discussing on this issue for eg: http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?35970-Vibration-when-Hard-Acceleration/page2&highlight=long+shaft; car vibrating because of the long shaft component.I'm driving a 318 and recently replacing the multijoint part at front and rear side of the long shaft ini one of the Workshop in Setapak Indah. Can please someone verify, when the multijoint part (coupling) is injected to the long shaft (front and rear), does it need to be welded like in the picture. Is it normal that the parts has to be welded?

I also notice the original long shaft (before i replace the multijoint) does not have any welding sign. Someone said that the part should not be welded because it will weaken the side (the side will become fragile), and the welding iron will effect the balance of the long shaft. Need help from brothers and sifus here.Thank you.

Today I go snap pics of longshaft in my store room for your comparison...

if the part has been taken out for realignment, the workshop will do welding to make the joint.

yehh the weld looks norm , but how well did they balance the l/shaft depends on who did the work IMHO ..
