hi sifus and fellow members...i have this idea...the stock engine in an e21 (323i) is m20b23 using k-Jet fuel injection system... is it possible to change the engine to m20b25 (motronic) but retain the original wiring and stuff...easy to say...can we just buy "engine kosong" m20b25 and replace the m20b23.... using back all harness/inlet/exhaust manifold, mounting, fuel pump, gearbox, etc2....the reason becoz m20b25 got 170bhp while the 2.3 is only 140.what are the obstacle that will appear?

easy to say...

the reason becoz m20b25 got 170bhp while the 2.3 is only 140.

k-jet system may not be fully compatible with the newer motronic sstem due to the various vaccum points that needed be tapped for the k-jet to work proper.

k-jet was bascially an advance carburated system develop to be used in the injection system. motronic controls bascially everything in a box while the earlier k-jet , l- jet had separate controls of iginition, iding, fueling, all individiually controlled and tweaked to ensure all systems matched, so a much more difficult system to tweak and stabilise compared to motronics

to run the k-jet in the newer b25 blocks, you will need to look at the various input it needs to function, therefore putting in the motronics would be a far better bet, unless you have a genius mind like myself which can convert the newer b25 blocks to adapt to the l-jet system
Sorry i cannot devuldge further information since i have long separated my knowledge on the l-jet systems. Also the -jets can be tweak manually to get more juice from the engine but the motronics need the DME chip to be changed/programmed.

i would advise you to abandon the k-jet unless you know a good mech who has competant knowledge in the -jet systems, as maintenance maybe a headache if problem does arise after engine has been installed

good luck
