By Shannon TeohKUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — BMW cars can now communicate with your dealer so it can contact you to set up a service appointment.A first in Malaysia, the car will communicate its service needs to a BMW server via a mobile network service when a particular service is due. This is then relayed to the customer’s dealership of choice which will contact the owner within two days to set up the service appointment.Called Teleservices, all BMWs with bluetooth and Navigation Professional systems will benefit from this programme beginning next month. This includes variants in all its sedan models, namely the 3, 5 and 7-series.The on-board Condition Based Service maintenance system monitors the car to determine the specific types of service required. As such, the service centre will have all the necessary parts and materials needed for the specific work ready when the car is brought in, minimising down time.“Using experience gained from Formula 1, BMW pioneered intelligent diagnosis-based servicing which ensures more road time for the driver,” said Vijayaratnam Tharumaratnam, BMW Malaysia corporate affairs manager.Along with BMW's in-house insurance programme and its Service & Repair Inclusive scheme which covers all costs of maintenance for the first three years, this gives customers complete peace of mind, added Vijayaratnam.
