knn.. just tell us which workshop so we'll be more careful next time... yes... should tell the workshop. Sometime the workshop boss' also dunno.. its the irresponsible kuli who did the job, and the boss cannot be checking each and every screws...

I have heard many horror story too... both from the workshops and from customers.. in reality, each is trying to take advantage of other party.. sad but true.. the workshops are as vulnerable to being cheated by the customers as well..

Bro, sorry to hear the sad story. Lucky nothing happened on your ride.
This is really unacceptable for the silly mistakes done by that mechanic.
If i were you, I'll go to the workshop and asking for the claim money.

mine was better...the kuli tighten the nut so tightly that it broke inside! lucky nothing happened

anyway...join the club and be an "official members"

Wah Firdaus,

1. You are lucky. your gearbox still ok
2. Go back to the workshop. Demand some compensation or else, user tribunal.
3. I always do the servicing at least 1 week before any long distance travel. at least i can make sure everything in order. i.e. unlock radiator cap, unlock brake reservoir etc.

Good luck Firdaus.

you should check if your AT fluid leak caused any accidents behind you......! i wun be happy chappy if I was on a bike!

bro ,

sorry hear about that , but glad to hear that bro sach & saiful were of help & your gb is intact .
was it your regular w/shop ? if yes , i would suggest you explain it nicely to the owner .
chances is that he will reimburse you or at least FOC your next ATF change .

good luck !

yes.. my regular w/shop. located at mutiara damansara. The owner will pay me for the bills.

sorry to hear that bro....for me i always like to see how they work at the same time become a reminder to the worker.

Thank God you're fine, firdaus. Try to make sure that there is no damage on the GB & all other related parts from the loss of ATF. Make sure that shop fler gives you some kind of an assurance, or else a police report. This might sound unreasonable, but who knows how much your wallet will be affected in the future due to his bodohness.

On another note, I have seen many owners just sitting around waiting for their car to be ready at the workshops. Whenever possible, try to make sure everything is done properly. What I do is stick around & look at what the mechs are doing, esp those dumbo apprentices who just finished school. If you feel or notice anything wrong, just ask the bugger coz you're paying for it. Most mechs will tell us why but if they're reluctant, pressure him till he gives you a satisfactory response.

Made a few enemies along the years because of this but I think it's still worth it:rolleyes:

As mentioned by Strider, for these kind of cases, the right channel is to lodge a report to Consumer Tribunal. I dont see any point of making a police report. Make sure u have as many 'bahan bukti' as possible to support u. The tribunal is quite efficient too.

And the best part, it is quite obvious that the tribunal is bias. They are very much on our side ... the consumer.

Anyway, since the workshop seemed to be very cooperative ... case close.

Where is the 19mm screw located? bottom at the oil pan or side of GB? how many percent (agak-agak) of the oil left after you discovered this tragedy?

Sorry to say this, I just worry about GB internal damaged..., it may not show you now but later...

That's why I elected myself as "wokshop supervisor aka mandur" whenever I send my car for repairs or maintenance. I'm very fussy & make sure everything is ok eventhough I may not know everything. My HP 5MP camera also very handy & helpful to snap pics. Sometimes is not the wokshop intentionally wanna to do that but they are human too & mistake do happen:love:

yes, guys... likesaid clockwork & initialM...

i always stay beside the mechanic making sure all is intact..

I top up back 5 liter of ATF. HUH... so far my GB look cool. Case closed.. the mechanic has been fired by the boss.. That time i go for lunch and leave my car at the workshop. and i think that was a mistake... onwards i should supervise all job done by mechanic. hope this can be lesson learn for all of us.

Chances that they did't put back your ATF sump magnate, as what happen to mine when they clean the sump. The magnate is important coz it will attract all the small bits metal particles, preventing them from being recirculated into the GB and doing more damage to the GB. Some wshop does't know how to treats their customers car, and this kind of workshop need to be thought some lessons. Would be nice if you could share with us the where about of the workshop, so that we also can avoid them.

Wow it was a close call indeed. Glad that nothing serious happened, and hopefully none in the future as well. It's a good way to practice by inspecting the repairs done by the mechanic and ask whenever you feel doubtful..unless you're so darn busy then it can't be helped. =)
