My mom was diagnose with thyroid and was given medication in the form of small tablets. When my mom finished those tablets, she went to the doctor for more of it. Then my dad realize that those tablets given was not the same as the previous tablets. He went to the clinic to get a confirmation and the nurse took the tablets inside the office and came out saying the doctor says it was the right prescription. My mom then took those tablets and felt weak and dizzy. Suspecting wrong prescription my dad took my mom to the clinic again. Now the doctor told my mom that the tablets given was not for thyroid but for epilepsy and my mom might have medicine reaction. Quickly the doctor issued a letter stating my mom's condition and asked that my mom to get admitted to the hospital. After a day my mom was discharged. Now my questions are:1) What kind of compensation should I ask for?2) Who should I lodge a complain (already complain to the clinic but they are trying to drag this issue so that eventually we give up)?3) Usually what amount should I claim for this kind of case?4) Finally do you think that I have a case here?Thank you

Wow... hope ur mum's okay.

In Malaysia, people can get away with "murder", it really is how bad was ur damage, that determine the case.

If accidentally infected with incurable AIDS and compensation was settled below RM500k. U know ur chances la.

So many cases I have seen... the worst being a friend's baby was brain damaged due to a mis-judge by the doctor who advice the mother to go natural birth for her 9 pounder first baby. The baby shoulder too broad and got stuck, unable to be delivered naturally. Emergency surgery to remove the baby and was found out of breath. They managed to save the child but the temporary out of breath has cause to brain to suffer from insufficient oxygen, so brain was damaged and the boy is now about 13 years old, couldn't sit, couldn't walk, couldn't talk and can't even eat or drink. Foods need to be injected through a valve on his stomach. SAD!!!!

The mother was under so much stress and it will not end! How much to claim?

sounds like u have a case, but it'll be years before u see anything and they clinic knows that too.u'll spend more money for lawyers etc and wait donkey years.so maybe its best you just ride it out :) but hey, i'm all for suing! if u can wait,go for it!

Keep the lawyers in business.. :D

So difficult go find lawyers, most lawyers find preparing S&P and loan documentation more productive or rather should I say, straight forward..sad.. :(

Tamade7,

I have sent you a PM to advice you on how you can lodge a complaint of this doctor's negligence with MMC.

By the way, I am not a lawyer but I do work at a private hospital and therefore could guide you.

Cheers.

hope your mum is ok, did you bring her to see a specialist or a general practitioner?

a condition like thyroid should be treated by a specialist like endocrinologist, they have to do a proper diagnosis on her before deciding on the dosage of the medication, i trust she's in good hands now
