Hello,Need some advise here from all the sifus (BM Master). I just got my UDM 1 month ago. Is recond from Japan. Model 320i (E46). The time I got my UDM, the milage is about 28k.Here comes the problem. Everytime I slow down the car, I can hear rotating sound from behind, and follow by "koo" sound. Some thing happen when I start to accelerate. I can hear the "koo" sound very clearly. It only sound once. During normal drive, no sound.Hope all the Sifu can understand my problem.... This "koo" sound really make me worry. I did send my car to workshop, but the mech couldn't find out where the "koo" sound come from. The salesman told me this "koo" sound is normal for E46.... but I don't think so.... coz this 1 is bimmer (UDM Leh) not Pxxxx or Kxx.Thank You Very Much......

subjective sir

1)noise could come from tyre's where since you just bought your ride it is wise to get the tires checked
2) wheel bearings worn off
3) Long shaft bush

the list goes on ...hope you can take a 2nd opinion from another foreman ....

Iceman 13,

Thank's for your opinion. I have done the car alignment and wheel balancing. Also have done the inspection for wheel bearing. Everything is OK.....:smokin: Option 3 haven't try...

example: When I slow down my car to cross bump, than I can hear "koo" sound. After cross the bump, and accelerate, it will "koo" one more time. The funny thing is this only sound once ( very hard to explain....hope can understand lah...):stupid: :stupid: :stupid:

Help!!!

Elo....

Any other 320I user got this problem??? Can share some experince??:listen:

I guess the sound should be "gook" or something like tht whn you slow down for a bump & accerate thr after...it could be due to some software alignment adjustment on the rear axle.. tht is wht i've been told

Thank fire,

You are right, is "goo" not "koo". May i know what is software alignment adjustment?????:stupid:

Any other SIFU know about this???

There are some old posting related to this problem..some resort to change every parts everything under the rear carriaege but still could not solve the gook problem...did heard from specialist it is caused by the space/gap in between the ratio that need to readjust to the default setting. some claim it is manufacturing defect which can be solved. :listen:

it might resulted to that bunyi i guess.

STRANGE BUT TRUE........

i had a similar problem with my E46 when slowing down and the noise comes till car is stationary...i found out that the cam sensor is on its way out and changed it...it is possible that all sensors must be is top working order so that the gearbox software upchange and downchange at the right times...after getting this done there is no more sound and gear changes seem smoother...dunno if it will work with you..its just my experience

regards

:top:Thanks.... BMW9700

Glad to gear that you solve your problem. BTW, may I know what is cam sensor?? My mechanic also don’t know where is it located? Do you mean camshaft sensor or…. I had send my car to workshop few times already, but is a bit difficult to determine which part exactly giving this “goo” sound. Headache lah….:62:

I being told by the salesman that this model ( 320i Year 2000) mostly got this problem. Few of my friend having same model ( all are CBU ) also got this problem me…so, I assume is true lah.. But now looks like I kena tipu lah…. Not many of you got this problem leh….

my advise is that have the car hooked on to a diagnostic computer...this will indicate if there is any problem with the sensors..

yes, i meant the camshaft sensor...its very easy to replace and cost around RM250..

do the diagnostics first and see if the sensors and air mass meter is working ok...otherwise it could be a problem with the gearbox with excessive wear..yes this is quite a common problem with the CBU E46..320i and 323i

I C......

First option already try... nothing goes wrong.

If is commom problem, is there anyway to solve the problem?? Now not only sakit kepala, some more sakit hati coz by the "goo" sound.. He He!!

Hope to hear the solution from you soon... Maybe other BM Master can help also...

Ten Q!!!

bro, wat FIRE said true enough, as thats wat i heard from few mechs..

i have changed the axle bush, mountings and the bearings and the noise still there...now gone..thats why dunno if it was due to the sensor..
