Just ordered a set of Bilstein HDs for my E30.But will have to wait around 2-3 month for arrival. The part numbers are Bilstein P30-0128 and B36-2028.Anybody here with any reviews of this set of Shocks?I was wondering if it is posible to match them with Eibach Pro-kit, or should i jsut leave the stock suspension inside?

a more 50 % (comfortable) + 50 % (performance) would be eibach pro-kit and bilstein black touring.

for your setup, you will have probably 35% comfort and 65% performance. It's harder ride but better control.

Good choice you have made there and they are a perfect match to the Bilstein Pro-Kit

so it is OK to put in Eibach Pro-Kit?
Cos i was afraid the Bilstein HD can only work with stock springs (cos that's what the seller told me)

I Chose the HDs instead of the SPORTs cos i think the SPORTS might be too stiff for me.

If it is OK to fit Bilstein HD + Eibach Pro-Kit, den i will go ahead and get the Eibachs as well when i fit in my shocks.

Do i need to change anything else when putting in this shock/springs set? Do i need to strengthen the car anywhere else to cope with the stiffer ride?

sorry for all the questions..first time i modifying the car, scared it'll fall apart.

Currently, there's a slight "tok tok" sound when i do cornering, but only sometimes. any advise what might be wrong?

HD is HEAVY DUTY. So, expect it to be firmer.

I would recommend to put the top strut bar to enhance the drivability and to counter the roll. :)

But the ride should be superb.

Also, i would recommed to change your bushes especially your subframe, your trailing arm, lower arm and etc etc..

Elwin's right....since you will be changing the absorbers, might as well change your bushings.

mm ok. How to go about ordering the bushings? Just tell them bushings? they come together? not too expensive rite?

you can order them bushings together, but there are quite a lot of bushes involved. Do you really want to change them all? Of course it is highly recommended but it will add to you cost significantly.

Best you go to a good workshop and check the condition of the rubber parts first. But as a start you should change the parts (if it is worn-out /aged) attached directly to the absorber & springs:

1.Shock absorber top mounts
2.Bump stops
3.Covers(plastic) attached to the top part of the shocks
4.Upper/lower spring pads (you can select the thickness)

The other components to look for:
Front -
1.anti-roll bar bushings
2.anti-roll bar connectors
3.lower arm bushes

Rear -
1.sub-frame mountings
2.lower arm bushes
3.anti-roll bar bushings if your car is fitted with one

The above parts do not come with the new shocks & springs. Check out the E30 maintenance thread for the prices.

For a 15yr old car with no history, change all the rotten bushes. By now Mockngbrd, watch out for all your rubber hoses especially fuel hose in the engine bay. If previous owner haven't change, do inspect for cracks on fuel line. Dripping fuel on M40 drips directly on the starter, so you know what would happen next ehehhehehe

yes, change ALL bushes and where available - use PU bushes since performance is your theme of modding. No pain, no gain!

mockngbrd, honestly in-terms of parts and options available for your car, you can't beat coming up north for parts and service. Sad to say that there are not too many e30's left in Sin, so shops don't bother stocking part for e30's. I have tried to get part from sin but its usually too much of a hassle as the ordering time is soo long. Standard stuff such as brakes, bushings and hoses are ok but anything out of the ordinary, forget it.

It would relly be an eye opener if you could take the time to go for one of the johor TT's as they have some really nice e30's there, or if time permits come down to KL for a look-see, look-see. I think since we have economies of scale, parts here are still priced quite comparable to Sin but we have more options and waiting time is shorter.

mm , yea, i wld like to go up North, but i guess because i have never driven up before. so abit scared to go up...
sure get lost

I agree with you zaskar about "out of the ordinary parts" in Singapore. Standard parts can be easily obtained there. E30's are becoming extinct in Singapore.
