Sifu-sifu sekalian,Is this Idling Control Valve? It is located under the Intake manifold and connected to throttle body. Thanks

i know no nuts bout M50 engines....is that the problem you have with your car this morning?

Yes. It also happens before. Last time, my car was transported to the workshop to get it changed. Now, the car is in my parking lot at home. So I am thinking of changing it myself. Thats why I am looking to buy the part yesterday. It used to cost RM50.

But no prob, I already got my friend to get it for me this morning. Thanks for your help.

Nobody answered Amaretto's question. Well? Is that the M50 idling valve? I'd like to know too.

No, it's not. This is just a plastic connector 4 one of da vacuum line. :eek:k:

Normally, this unit tend to crack causing air leak.If it does,da car's idling will not b smooth. B)

Here is a pic of a ICV. It look like your picture come from the front of the ICV but I could be wrong.. :dunno:

Thanks everybody.

No. It not the idlind control valve. Like what Wolverine said, it is just a connector. Mine not just leak, that damn thing exploded!!! Not sure why but a few minutes before, I sprayed a lot of Carb Cleaner into the throttle body. So could be premature combustion. Sigh.

Here is the parts diagram if anyone is interested. It is item 7 and cost USD3 only. And I paid RM50 for it.

The ICV for the M50 engine (also for M52, I would think) is very hard to reach!. It is under the intake manifold (facing firewall) and one needs to remove the oil canister just to reach under the "ribs" intake manifold, then feel around to pull the hoses off and electrical connector off. Some people actually remove the Intake Manifold and MAF as well, so thats a lot of work to take out and put back.

M20 engine is so simple, ICV is just before the TB facing the radiator. I still don't know why BMW placed the ICV for the M50 engine in such an awkward place!.
