Dear all,At intermittent setting, we are supposed to be able to switch from I to II, in some three or four steps if I remember correctly. At any of these steps, the wiper might wipe more frequently or less frequently at any given time.Have you ever faced this problem before and what should I look into changing? My ride's mid-2003 E39.Cheers.seewai

Hi Seewai,

Not sure if I understood you correctly. I know that at intermittent setting, the wipers will wipe at preset frequencies, BUT, it will wiper slower then usual (no matter at which steps) if your car speed is crawling along slowly (or driven slowly) or when idling. OR, it also also be viewed as if you drive faster, the wiping frequency will be faster; i.e. car speed.

Do correct me if I am wrong.

Cheers,

Neoh

Hi Neoh,

Thanks for trying to understand but the actual situation is like this, say I set it at slowest intermittent, at position 'I', it may wipe once, wait 2 seconds wipe again, wait 9 seconds wipe twice, wait 1 second wipe twice...and so forth.

This can happen when idle, or during driving. I know my ride has no rain sensor.

Hope this set things clear a bit :)

Cheers.

mine does that but its only because it detects the rain pouring heavily or not. if its light rain itll wipe slowly bit if heavy rain itll wipe faster

I wonder if any bros out there has actually added the rain sensing feature to his/her originally without rain-sensor setup.

What could be the set of necessary hardware and/or wiring required?

Cheers.

Mine doesn't come with rain-sensing feature but Seewai...I know exactly what you mean. I've encountered that many times....absolutely random swipes.

Sometimes, while drizzling and while waiting at the lights, it will just wipe intermittently at regular intervals. But once light turns green and just as i'm about to take off...it'll wipe twice even if it had just wiped prior to taking off. Weird....but it works.
