Anyone else experience this before?Once in a while, the DSC and handbrake warning lights will come on (yellow) and stay on and then after a while (usually the next startup or a day/two later) it will be back to normal. Some months back I had a similar problem (DSC light only without the handbrake) and AB had resolved it. Or not, as it seems. :dunno:

I've experienced it before. Basically, it just means that your DSC system, or more specifically, a hopefully minor component of, is on the blink and that it's time to part with some hard earned cash.

People rely way too much on all these electronic safety devices these days lar... Not like you ever really need it for on-road driving, and not like it'll ever save you from 90% of accidents, if you're driving sensibly, but if you don't have it, you feel uneasy. That's why next car I get won't have any fancy traction control, DSC, etc... just good 'ole organic traction control (ie. your right foot) and a LSD...

Haha! Actually, while I think that the reliance on electronics as a whole has reached the point of being slightly ridiculous, anything that potentially saves lives has to be seen as a good thing. The majority of motorists don't really have the driver training, experience and reflexes to handle hairy situations. Besides, electronic active safety can react much faster than even the best drivers out there. So I'm all for it even if I'm not enthused by it.

Anyway, how was your DSC situation resolved? I'm hoping to get lots of detailed feedback to better understand the typical reasons for the warning lights.

I believe the faulty components in my case was some sensor and some pump/actuator. I really can't remember.

I had it sorted during my normal service interval, I believe they just stuck it into a MODIC and out came the culprits. It's been fine since then, so no complaints.

I also can't remember how much it cost, but it wasn't exorbitant, cos I can't remember feeling cheated either, anyways, the work was carried out by PML Singapore, so pricing shouldn't correlate with AB/ Malaysian workshops anyways.

Get yr wheel speed sensors checked. Since is '04 should be still under warranty. Just get it hook up to Modic/GT1 at AB or whoever u buy it from.

had the same problem with my car. But mine is only ASC. the problem was with my lower arm bushing. Both was torn. Changed it and things back to normal. check this item. CHEERS :D

what u see is what u get,

my friend n i had similar problems. go back to auto bavaria n get them to check using gt1. need to do the setting again.....

Thanks for the feedback guys. Looks like it could be any number of things. I'm surprised at some of the previous culprits - especially the bushing! Itu bushing pun boleh screw up DSC ah? Wow...

Hi Eddie, So did the warning lights come on again? When did you get AB to do it for you?

Mine a 6 months old car has this, I don't believe it.......It came off the first time after I passed the long jam......then it went off on the next start of the car.....The second time was when I applied brakes on a slow drive.....Does any one really know wht is wrong with this? is it just the censor or others? Now I really have doubt bout Bimmer quality..... :(

stepheno, after the auto bavaria guys did the 'whatever' setting with the gt1, the dsc light never comes on again.

i got it done soon after the dsc light came on lah. that was in march 2005.

stepheno, there is no such thing as a perfect car. every car has its own problems. most people bought bmw/mb/exotic cars, just because they want to show to other people that they have the money. that's it. most, not all.

Yes, there is NO such thing as "The Perfect Car".

But for the amount of money you pay for a BMW, you would expect it to be rather closer to "perfection" than say... a Toyota VIOS.

I don't think people who buy BMWs/MBs/Exotics are all as shallow as you think they are, eddie.

Send my car to AB PG on Tuesday and got it fix....They just re-set the electronics and it's gone.....But would not know how long this will last....Hopefully it would not come back.... ;)

It came back after 1 month....am sending my car to AB tomorrow to fix it again. Just wondeing does anyone has this problem which need to be fix multiple time? This is not a solution by going back to AB to fix this evevrmonth.... :(

Anyway, send it agian to AB and they change the censor for me. Hopefully it will not come back again.

Jap cars still rule when it comes to reliability. Heck even a proton wira will have much less problems than the beemer... A sad reality, but most conti's are like that...

Yeah, I would agree with you on the reliabiity of Jap cars. After 3 months of getting my car there are some sounds from the interior. This is not suppose to be the quality of an Bimmer.....disappointed :(
