..import tax free..

..hi guys..i would like to know, what is exact meaning of 'import tax free', here in Malaysia? .. i have had some 'lightening up' at JPJ office but to be honest, i dont understand a thing what officer on duty told me..he mentioned so many 'variations' that i have no idea what does it mean 'import tax free' vehicle...basically, i wanna know, is this 'import tax free' expression just an expression, while some other 'hidden' things will be in place to drag me in to similar situation, cost wise, just named on different way..I would appreciate if someone with maybe experience in the field, could answer me clearly..thank you in advance guys..

..im looking for Z8 import, based on G rule that as a foreigner, i can import 1 vehicle, import tax free, once i obtain PR..so, im in process of getting my PR, and at same time i found Z8 i want to buy/import..i couldnt repeat what JPJ officer told me because i just have no idea what he had told me because, it was dialogue with use of hands, some random writing on paper, and so on..I did ask for some documentation or anything point me in right direction, but no use (means i didnt get any)..so, basically all i wanted to know..is it really meaning of 'import tax free', expenses of transport and road tax/insurance only ??

You are moving to Malaysia, and you want to bring in a z8(wow!) from another country into the country.

Well i would think what he meant is that you are entitled to bring 1 personal car import tax free which means you only pay the duty only.

Tell you what ecco, no promises but because i want to see a z8 in malaysia i would ask around how to help you get around this. I would think this is just a small issue just a case of communication breakdown...

Again no promises but i do want to see that z8!

under malaysia my second home, you can get one tax free, correct. Not sure if its same with PR, besides, as far as i know, it is not that easy to get PR in malaysia, might take years. But do keep us posted on your progress.

In malaysia, you'd get as many answers pertaining to your question as number of people you speak to at government department. words worth nothing. get it on paper from a relevant body, not JPJ.

..well..Im living/working in KL for past 7 years, and recently G changed rules so now its required 5 years to live in country (like in any other country), to get PR right..so Im in process of getting it, and according to G rules and scoring points, i have more points then required..so i guess it shouldnt be a problem..however, i would like to know, where i can check informations about is it import tax free vehicle tied to PR (I consider it malaysia my second home) or its something completely different ?

Under 'Malaysia My Second Home' incentives you have to be the owner of the vehicle prior to your move to Malaysia. Otherwise you would have to buy a Malaysian assembled car without paying any tax or sales duty. And because you have lived here for 7 years I dont know how you would do this. If you have just arrived you could backdate the documents, there are ways around this but since its been 7 years i dont know what to suggest.

I dont think you belong to the Malaysia my Second Home though, that programme is for foreigners wishing to come to Malaysia, not PR's.

yes i know about MM2H, but all people i know applying for it, were in their retirement, and i heard from them that they are not allowed to work, just stay here..i don't know is that information accurate or not, either way, Im interested for PR..anyway, thank you for insight, ill check it both thoroughly..geez..i want my Z8, i have had hard time to find such nice unit..
