My E60 525i service indicator is ON now to indicate that my car needs servicing (engine oil + filter)Last Service was at 37K miliage (Miles) and now the milliage is 41K. I bought this car in about a year ago with the full service history. However, there is no date for the last service. I think its more than 1 year old since the last service, hence the indicator is ON now.My Question is :1. What happen if I ignore this indicator and carry on driving like normal. (As its only 4K miles since the last service).2. I am going to export this car from UK to Malaysia in about few months time. Which one is better ? Servicing in UK or Malaysia ? Is there any different for the engine oil type (based on difference weather).Thank you and much appreciated.

I think it all depends what you did at the last service at 37k. Do you mean to say that you bought it at 37k mileage a year ago and never had it service till now? Prevention is better then cure anytime so I would advice you to get it checked or at least serviced as it is about time. If you are talking about exporting your car a few months time and will be still driving your car around till then.....then I would say the cost of repair here will definitely be cheaper ler :)

I also hardly drive my car and will not be able to touch the mileage I need to service my car in a year but most of the bros here say that we gotta send it in at least every 6 months so I am stretching it to every 8 months now...ekekek

1. Its better to have it serviced (even if its just an oil change and filter). Oil will deteriorate over time even if the car is not used much. Deteriorated oil will not protect your engine.

2. The service job will be the same because the same checks and replacements will be done. Oil used may be different though. Just that you will be paying more for UK labour charges instead.

Actually, this car is meant to export, and I just make it as a second car. I only used it sometimes during the weekend and that's why it's only used very little mileage.

Anyway, I have done a survey and found the service charges, and spare part is cheaper if I do it here (in UK).

Regarding the oil change, can I do it at any garage or BMW specialist garage only? Do you know if the service indicator can be easily reset or does it needs special equipment for this ?

Thanks.
