Been reading various posts around this forum regarding the E39.Brought back alot of memories with my late father's E39 520 which has Ori M sport suspension and 17 inch BBS.Quite cool then in 2002. Am browsing mudah recently and cant resist the temptation of buying one..... Argh.......

this is the power of racun.( i myself kena dose also). i think to get a E39 u have to keep it in Malaysia as > 10 years car need special registration in Singapore. look out for 530. the power of acceleration is marvelous even at high speed. i enjoy the moment it rev from 3000 rpm all the way to 6800 rpm which effortlessly power the car to 200km/h.

I think it still live up to "the best used sedan car" in the world.

Buy one as a toy like EL but i think it is hard to get one now in SG.

if itchy....garu la and don't resist the temptation....come to the dark side....

Need to offload my 2 S classes then grab at least a 525i! CKD version would be ideal
The other interesting option is to get E46 touring....

If can, get ur hands on a 530i. The effortless M54B30 in that chasis has adequate power to weight ratio. Whilst, anything more is even better, 540, 545, then roadtax concerns bla bla bla...The 530i should keep you smiling like many of our fellow members here..My M52B28 keeps me smiling already, what more the 530i..

deep, perfect would be one with a M62TUB44 :p

Agreed, thats why I mentioned, more will be even better if the roadtax is not an issue.

Maybe I should change that word from perfect to adequate..;)

roadtax aside, the maintenance is really scary, make standard model maintenance cost like small change...

hahaha...

530I is nice.... miss the boat on the Black one advertised on mudah. Was going for 50k plus.

Dont intend to get anything bigger than 3000cc as it will make no econimical sense for me as I am only back in KL once a month.

525I is otherwise a good choice. Driven friend's 528i too, great car but would prefer a facelifted version

The 528i is old skool enough for me, lesser electronics and driven by cable. The pedal gets heavy after sometime.

Exactly, great value. where on earth can get such a good sport car at such low price. I was already smiling for bargain when i bought mine at RM70k earlier this year for a 2002 model. but i would be happier if the parts can be more lasting....sigh...

Hi ck318i, i bought that unit just before Hari Raya form the dealer just few weeks ago. The car is a CBU UK premium sport unit, with widescreen MID, m-sport steering and blackened window trims. Best possible all original condition for a 11 year old car, the dealer said that car gets tons of response. I have to beat others to get it

Good luck, I passed on that car...did you check the service record at M1 Segambut? Hope you prove me wrong.

He he, there is no right or wrong, just different views or expectation. I wont expect a 11 year old car to be without problems. I just want to get a alternative ride and still be able to enjoy using it. A beauty for me is as long as it is in original condition with no mods etc. There are not many 530i around for that price ($53k), i dont need it to be in the latter years of manufacture. Part of the joy of UDM ownership is to be able to send the car for parts replacement and chatting with the knowledgeable (or not so) workshops ppl, doesnt really matter as this forum really gives solid advises from members ownership experience.

Its just expectation management. I dont expect a 40 year old woman be like a 20 year girl and etc etc, you know what i mean.

Is it sleeping in his porch? Tot his son was using it no?

Wow.... 53k for a 530, darn good deal (which year of manufacture). Bought mine last year for about 70k (2002 model) and i tot it was a brilliant deal. Records was pretty good but knew there were many issues to be worked on and sorted. Gearbox was showing/indicating problems and engine may have to be overhauled... but at that price.... I just took it. Now its on manual and did engine flush... feels good. Only if neccessary will do an overhaul.

You are right, sometimes its just a gut feel as tried several cars before this purchase and this just felt right.
