Is it me or someone else (fellow forumers and club members) has bad experience with the shop mentioned above???Here's my story:Went to Hup Shun 2 months back to purchase a new set of Breyton Race GTS rims for my E60. Not wanting a 19" because of comfortability issue (long distance drive), I decided to get 18" instead. This guy, Ivan (I think that he's the man-in-charge.. son of the boss if I'm not mistaken) attended to me & in the end, I got a set of 18" rims from him (traded my M-Sport rims on the spot)... and also 20mm spacer. First mistake - he didn't inform me that the offset for 18" Breyton Race GTS is not compatible with E60 and need at least 25mm spacer to fix this problem. I'll leave this problem to later on.I sent those rims to my regular paint shop to be re-sprayed according to my style and got back the rims not long after. Ecstatic, I went to install the rims at Hup Shun one Friday afternoon... feeling happy coz I finally got the rims of my dream! what they do was switch my original 15mm spacer (which was in the front by the way) to the back and instead put the 20mm spacer at the front... by saying that the offset was not enough. Fine! Most of you would definitely know how awkward it is to have the front wheel looks wider than the back right??? I noticed that there's a loud scratching sound while I drove back home to PJ but thought of nothing. The next morning, I sent my E60 to Lim Tayar TTDI to change the front tires and the supervisor pointed out that the rims inner lips were badly scratched with my absorber :motz: I called Ivan right away and he just asked me to bring my car back and he'd changed to 25mm spacer. Damage has been done!!! Don't wanna got into heated argument, I sent my car back and this time, I observed him replacing the spacers. He was rushing the job and in the process of taking off the wheel nuts, he did further damage to my rims as the wheel nut gun slipped and scratched my rim's surface (near the wheel cap). He thought that I didn't notice that and pretended as if nothing has ever happened!!! I felt like pushing the fun through his throat at that moment. It was only then I realised that the back wheels were still on the 15mm spacer, which practically made my E60 look very fugly. He promply pushed another set of 25mm spacers to me but I wanted 30mm... paid the money and went home while waiting for the spacers to arrive. I also reminded him that I wanted the same wheel nuts for both front and back rims (I noticed that the nuts at the back protuded quite long). Imagine my frustration when I installed the 30mm spacers a week later and saw the long nuts! Obviously he tried to get away with it if I didn't watch him doing his job. He seemed pissed off at that moment when I told him of the nuts problem (even though I told him in the nicest possible way). He tried not to show & asked me to come back in another 2 weeks time. 2 weeks had passed, and you know what he did when I went to collect my new nuts??? his guys took all the nuts to the back and use a machine to cut the nuts... thinking that I wouldn't notice that! At this point, I was already feeling hopeless at Ivan's attidude in dealing with my problem. I just drove home.. vowing not to go back there anymore (even though the rims there are quite cheap!) Update: Now the wheel nuts at the back showed some sign of rusting!!! I have to fork out money to get myself a brand new set of nuts which could easily cost RM150-200!The end!!!

I have no issue with them, but judging from my personal observation and now from you, im not entirely surprised. Lim tyre on the other hand is top notch. Good customer service, knowledgeable staff, good assistance when needed and price is reasonable. I dont mind paying extra also since they have nice facilities, very relaxing environment, no cars zooming around like sunway plus they have wifi which is always a plus point when you're bored.

Was there abt 3 weeks ago to change my tires. Been there before and not had any issues but for their alignment guy is not good. Sry to read about what happen to you. Reckon it can happen in any shop, if you end up with the wrong service guy. cheers

you know what?? if you read my thread carefully, it was the boss who did my car.. so I have to :thefinger: him

I have known Ah Tee since the early 90's when his shop is in SS3 Klana Jaya. Me and my bunch of car nuts bought many tyres and rims from him ever since but stopped going to him in 2005 as he become lansi and arrogant. Treat old customers like they don't have money and wasting his time. Never step a foot there ever since and good riddance to him. He opened up a similar shop in KD but closed down. Same service there as well.

Last year I purchased 4 Michelin tires from Hup Shun. Dealt with the boss (matured skinny guy) and thought he was ok until the alignment guy tried very hard to sell me the camber kit. It sounded like if I don't buy the kit, my rear wheels are going to fell off. It really pissed me off and told him to just concentrate doing the alignment. The alignment wasn't accurate and have to re-do it again the next day. Thereafter a member recommended me to MPS Auto which has given me excellcent service sofar.

Bro Herbert,
I think that the matured skinny guy was the same guy that I'd dealt with.. his name is Ivan btw :D
I went there coz the rims are really cheap compared to other places..

Must be the same guy as I did not bother to know his name. Yes, their prices (tires & rims) are cheaper and I think that is how they attract customers to the shop and whacked us for other relevant items/services.

the older times it was AH TEE and now the new era seems to change name to ivan i guess ...

one of his allignment sifu back early 2000 was panjang and now operates in seapark PJ ... ever since he left i've never got a good alignment person from this shop ...

yep as business expanded he never seems to have time to entertain customers ...most of the time entertain those lattest newer and bigger CC cars ...

I have been Ivan's customer at the shop in KD and when it closed down, I still look to him for my tire needs. Good price and so far, service has been good though I'm sure they screwed up the rear wheel alignment on my BMW the last time I went there (hup shun) causing uneven tire wear. Went back and complaint to Ivan, but unfortunately, damage already done. At least he gave me a good discount on my next set.... No such problems at the KD shop though...

Sorry to hear about your bad experience Thule. For me, no matter how good or reputable a shop is, I always monitor them when they are working on my car. Things like using the wheel nut gun on expensive wheel nuts and rims are a major no-no. I always insist they undo the wheel nut by hand. Pisses them off but at the end of the day, who's gonna pay me back for scratching my rims and wheel nut? So tough la....

Seems like bad alignment seems to be a common issue with this shop.... mental note for my next visit. Heck, I think I'll take my car to Lim tayar for an alignment check just to be sure....

Not a place I'd go to for my alignment/balancing work.. they suck at it bigtime.

The alloys and tyres are reasonably priced tho.

Mixed bag.

I spoke to Ivan for a quote on Breyton Race GTS 19" in matte black - RM7,000 per set. These are the lowest quote that I got so far. However, I would prefer pay a bit of premium and get excellent results rather than getting pissed over poor service. Lim Tayar at MRR2 got my vote for good service and reasonable price.

Bro,
Are you thinking to trade in your existing rims? If yes, no choice but to let them change. But if you are keeping the rims, just buy the new set of 19" Matte Black Breyton Race GTS and install it at Lim Tayar... excellent job done :top: that is, if the price difference is huge between the two shops..

Yup bro
When I changed the tires at Lim Tayar shortly after installing the Breyton rims at Hup Shun, the supervisor told me that the alignment still got problem :motz: to think of it, I have only changed the rims one day before and they (Hup Shun) did the alignment FOC

sorry guys a bit off topic. Are the rim at hup shun are original or replica? how can we tell the diffrence ya?

cheers!

I totally agree with most of you guys, by far the best service and pricing of tyres and rims has to be Lim Tayar Taman Tun. Bought Rims, 18"s. 19"s even bought Mr CK Lim's Merc S Class all in the best pricing and service. Bought my 245/3519 & 285/30/19 continental tyres from them recently. price is reasonable. But i beg to differ on the alignment. My personal view is that there are better places that does alignment. I do mine in Old Klang Road.

i am one of the old cstomer since their ss3 shop and i took many friends to his shop but nowadays they are 'langsi 'n manyak sombong woo juz treat big cars big cstomers..
Now i went to bukit kemuning tyre-aka ahsiong.the price are very much much lower than HUP SHUn..
