I have a set of replica AC Type IV on my e39 and it's making a loud humming noise when i'm driving above 90km/h. The humming sound can be reproduced when it's spinning on the wheel balancing machine. Anyone here experience similar problems? The sound is driving me nuts! wuuuung wuuuung wuuung ...

maybe some of the 5 series sifus can tell u why but come lah tis saturday for the A Farmosa convoy, refer 5ers TT & Events

Normally if it happened at different speed, the wheel bearing start to fail.

I agree with Strider, the new set of rims is putting more stress to the wheel bearings

i can still hear the humming sound when the wheels are on the wheel balancing machine.

Hmmm... Then it look like you got a faulty rims or the design cause the air stirr and create the prop sound

All 4 will produce the same sound on the balancing machine? Why don't you take out the tyre and test it again on the machine without the tyre. if the sound still appear than it confirm the rims. But this is the first time for me to come across this type of problem.

I would say the bearing as the replica rims are heavy n caused the bearing to wear out sooner..

you can try doing balancing on a different rim if possible the original one that comes with the e39 to test.
