How to check our BMW engine production date ?

Dear sifu,if I were go to chop shop to look for engine, just curious to know can we check the engine production date ?

Submit chassis number to the online part catalog website la.

I use bmwfans.info ... that is if there's a chassis lor..

or you can look for manufacturing date stamps which is available on most parts.

bro, the thing is i'm looking for engine kosong only. cannot get the VIN

Every engine components has a date stamp, just like this one which I found on our microfilter, i.e Nov 2009:

If I not mistaken, the oil cap has it, the oil filter housing has it, the alternator and power steering pump, even the aircond compressor has it. The valve cover has it but it's inside, and so forth..

This is what I saw under my valve cover.. it says 2007.. :4:

there should 2 set of number stamp on the engine. Look for the 8 digit on the engine. the last four denote the month and year.

This apply for newer engines btw.
