How often should one clean a drop in K&N Filter? By mileage or weeks/months? And where is the best place to buy the cleaner/oil...and how much should I pay for it?Thanks......!

i'm using the KW cleaner from Brother's good enuf. and occasionally would use air nozzle from the workshop to spray from inside to clean the dust.

i need to clean mine as well....how much is the KW thing?
I bought the KW filter cleaner from Brother's for RM28....a few mths back.

It comes in a pack of 2 bottles.

1 cleaner and 1 solution.

YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO USE AIR NOZZLE TO BLOW OUT DIRT FROM K&N FILTER

- It damages the filter. High pressure air jets will tear a hole in the cotton. U shld only use it for paper/fibre type air filters.

How often u clean it depends on usage. Are u high mileage, do you travel a lot at dusty construction sites, etc.

Whatever it is, do not, I repeat, do not, use air nozzle to clean your K&N airfilter. Wash it with soapy water, or better still, use K&N's cleaner fluid. Let it dry in the sun/air. Only then do you re-oil

refer to K& N website

http://www.knairfilters.com

Use K&N oil on K&N air filter - otherwise u invalidate the warranty

I got mine cleaned at KL Auto Accessories. They know the right way to do it.

Edit: specific page on K&N web site

Thanks bros...
Extract from the website...

1) Service every 50,000 -100,000 miles on street driven applications.
2) Service often in off-road or heavy dust conditions or when air filter reaches 18" of restrictions.
3) Let the dirt "build-up" work for you; it will not hurt the performance and actually help filter the air.

I did clean my air filter everytime after I service my car, which 5000km. Statement from K&N that you shud clean every 50,000km - I dun think it is applicable to our wether which is humid and due to dusty road, which you can found nearly every road in our country.... :dunno:

I'm using K&N recharge kit which I bought at N1 Racing (RM 70) - consist of cleaner and oil spray - this is the best price that I found - Maybe it could be more cheaper at somewhere else:huh:

But please - DO NOT USED COMPRESSED AIR to clean your K&N air filter... :getyourfactsright:

Every few weeks i get the air filter out and tap the heavier loose dirt out. Its amazing how much of crud gets into the air filter just by normal street driving in KL.
