Define maintain.

When u first get the car ;

1) U will spend quite a lot to change most of the wear and tear parts
2) After item (1), u will spend a lot in upgrading ur ride

I hv spent close to 40K + in 7 yrs. Most of it is related to item (2). I know some ppl spend more than that ...

Maintainance is actually same as any other car. Just make sure that you take good care of it. Once you get the car, & you chg most of the wear & tear parts, then it should be fine. PArt willbe slightly more costly than some Japanese models but with the help of the members herem you will be able to find some bargains.

okay, i have one of the worst conditions e30 around when i got it (dont believe? ask the members here) I spent most of the money changing the worn out parts and repairing what can be repaired. As of today I've spent somewhere in the region of 9K for the car. I got the car for 1K (being abandoned and all).

Now the car is running well, just minor issues with one of the electronic controllers. for the past eight month driving the car, my only expenses is fuel, and regular maintenance (oil, filter yada yada). why dont you check out the e30 maintenance thread for this.

Okay that's over....now I have to warn you, unless you really love the car and are willing to learn and go into trouble for the car, buy something else. The e30 is a very relieble car if it's in good running condition and maintenance is done periodically. if it's not in acceptable running condition, get it repaired. this is where the money flows...repairing the car. spare part are not that expensive, if you know where to get it. Since you are a forrumer, get a knowledgable forummer to help.
Other than that, happy e30 motoring.

 hahaha..
well ding.. i'm really really interested in e30..
my dad offers me a brand new car.. still.. i want an e30..
will take car n spend a LOT on it.. ;p

i agree

lecka.. if you listen what ding said.. his car will be the 'bling-bling' in the club..

if you want to keep the car standard, it will only cost the wear and tear..honest..

unless if you are mad as me..

BUY..BUY... BUY....

Depends on the condition of the e30 u gonna buy and if u need to do the
restorations or not.

Regular maintenance is as normal as other car.

If u really luv e30.. buy it and u will enjoy spending on it... rather then u spend to something else that not from ur heart..
The more u spend on your e30 the more u know about your car and the more u luv it.. and u will be happy spending on it...
Take the challenge.

The nearest workshop from Bkt Jalil.. is Ah Wai.. BM World Motor Works- Desa Tun Razak (near to LRT Bandar Permaisuri)

BUY..BUY.. BUY... :yahoo:

fren... if someone were to ask u..why u choose the old lady instead of a new car.... just tell 'em... this is not just an old lady...i'm driving a legend...

E30...u must have the passion....then.... u will be needing a lot of patience! hahahahahaha...

:D

Lekca.. u can look up at the 'the workshops that you go to' in the forum.

regards.

thanks peeps..
getting my e30 soon..
now transfering name at jpj..
but in johor bahru..
have to wai loo.. aihh..

I have spent more than 15k over the last 3 yrs.

Last year I spent RM5k of which 2.3k was to rebuild my auto gearbox and RM700 was for a used power steering rack.

Normal maintainance is ok but its the big ticket item that pinches but its all worth the pleasure.
