Hi Guys,Am hoping for some advice. My car (E46/320i/2000) air cond blows hot air when it's idling at stand still especially during massive traffic jams. But it's then ok again when I start moving.Anyone here had that experience before? What could possibly be wrong? Am hoping to get your advice before I visit an air cond specialist.Cheers.

Cheers.

Is it when u free the gear then no air cond then engage the gear to D then got cold air again ? I got the problem that i mentioned on my previous e36

Check aux fan, clutch fan and air con gas. Flush your radiator lately? Or change your thermostat.so many thing to check.

I suspect one of the 2 fans -> "compression shroud" A/C fan or "engine fan" blade and/or its coupling (clutch).

If at the center A/C vent, driver side warmer than passenger side, A/C coolant leakage / pressure low.

I suggest u start troubleshoot on the fan first.. Is it working or not?

Thanks guys for the much appreciated help! Have taken note of all the notable points raised and will get all of the components checked. Don't want to end up being victim to most workshops who will encourage suckers like me to change the compressor. :)

tweiboon, spot one, mate. We have the same problem. How did you solve yours?
jarnice, thanks for the insights and will check all those you had mentioned. BTW, I had recently changed my radiator. Had a tiny crack in the old one and the water level was slowly dropping. So decided to change the entire radiator unit.
seewai, noted with thanks and will surely check as advised by you when I go home later today. Am expecting the usual jam.
jigo, all fans are working though.

If you have change the radiator then it is advisable to change the thermostat as well.
Did you change that.

Btw. There are two of them.

Hi Jarnice. I didn't change both the thermostat when I changed the radiator but then again I need to check that when sorting out this problem. Thanks again.

Hi taggnas

so the culprit is the tiny crack? should check the water level once a week
