High Mileage E39

Hi, i'm Leon and i'm new to this forum and never owned a BMW before,last week, i was offered a 2001 528 E39 that i was very interested in, but the mileage clocked at 290k+ that worries me that some part will fail soon.i search thru the internet that Vanos seal prone to fail around 150k mileage, so i tested drive the car, engine seem still working strong. i will like to seek an advise what other parts to be checked/inspected to a high mileage car like this as i do not have any knowledge bout BMW. million thanks.:top:

First and foremost, kindly introduce yourself in the newbies section to avoid being reprimanded by our forum police. Secondly, any second hand car needs wear and tear parts replacement and its best to bring someone familiar with e39 to inspect the car.

Hi leon, mine has run about 240k kms so far..as for your case, u need not worry if the previous owner takes good care of it..

if u ask me, buy and put a new engine..less hassle

So long as car has proper service records you are good. Who knows previous owner already replaced the VANOS seals? Anyway, VANOS seals are not expensive.

If the car is well maintain not to worry...
Mine jap spec already 226k no issues of engine oil top up till the next service schedule..(8k)..

Yup if the car is well maintained then no issues. Mine also has 195k km now.

Mine just did top overhaul to replace the head gasket grind valve change some ware n tear parts...
So now my almost 14 yrs old bmw almost like brand new kuikui...
The urmmmmppppp once step on the acc pedal is back fuuuhhhhh...

Town drive jem trafic light round about get 9-10km/l..
Next week end going to test on hwy drive long distance...
