ok i just installed HID in my car and my question is, how does your mech install the HID on your front lamp? do they use the ori light holder? or is there a holder which comes with it? or is it necesary to pump in silicone to hold the light in place?need help

mine they suggest put silicone to hold the hid in place.. was wondering how others was done?

you see the ori light has a holder for the ori light.. as the hid has no holder the bulb is put inside the light and silicone is pumped in to hold the light bulb instead of an ori light holder..

Not really understand what u are talking about..

For e39, there have a holder for HID bulb, just like the ori bulb..

ok that answer my question.. they have holders so they dont need to pump in silicone.. thanks~!

yeah, even i convert my H1 halogen bulb to H1 HID in my E34 i also make the bulbs seat at original holder, no silicon needed,

Never use silicon lah.. The installer have done a bad job. They are using the wrong type of HID bulb. HID and halogen bulb produce a lot of heat when in operation. That why the holder is ceramic.

Nowadays, HID bulb come in various form. eg. H1, H7 etc.. i.e. plig and play

They should sit nicely in your existing holder. If they are not of your original type, chances is that your HID focusing would be out causing glaring to the cars coming in the opposite direction.

correct.. i was very sceptical when they wanted to do this.. so i had to ask around..

For me I buy extra holder and cut a hole in the middle of the holder to make sure the wiring from the HID get through..and than silicon the HID to the folder...

More like a DIY coz I was using a non std buld which is HB4 which I have extra. It works somehow the light throw is a not that good. I am not sure is because of the bulb or?? Anyway I took it our and use back halogen

Anyway bought the 2 holder from the chop shop for a small fee..

Hope this help.

Sure the light throw is not good because u got wrong focal length by using non-standard(not original type or equivalent spec) bulb
