Hello, i like to write a few lines to introduce myself as a newbie, conforming the practice here. It has been a few years since i first started browsing here for some good quality information for the upkeep of my e39-523i-97'. This unit was cheap to own, good to drive without major issues for 3 years before being fostered by my business associate. Early last year i bought the GTI-mk6 and enjoyed the thrill of a menacing drive machine. I still have the ugliest looking car on the road today in MY, the Froggy Multipla 1.9JTD. I vividly recalls few occasions of some kids in opposing cars laughed and finger pointing me while stopped at the traffic lights (i actually enjoyed the kids joyous expressions). Sadly the car is still condemned to-date waiting for a compatible whole replacement engine unit for the last 4 years now. The Fiat dealer SC was so bad and it was like everything else is my problem when things happened in the dealer SC. Well that was it, i will never, ever go to that evil place anymore.Last week, got myself a 2000 UK CBU e39 -530i - touted by many forums, local and abroad, as the UDM and best exec sedan ever built. i am surprised by the current low pricing (new was like $480k) brought it home last week to see if it can outperform VW mk6 GTI in overall driving satisfaction. The reason for the purchase was after my 18 months of using the GTI, somewhere deep inside me still missed my good old e39-523i-97'. Now the car is in the process of getting some issues resolved and would like to thank all BMWCM generous ppl for their kind future thread/posts replies. BTW, JTD (me) now aged 39 with 4 kids, Mech Engineering Contractor - self employed for 20 years and still hopes to retire before 40.

Welcome to the forums bro. Nice write-up. So, you currently have both the E39 523i and 530i? Many owners here of the 530i will certainly attest to the quality and sheer satisfaction of owning it. :top: Why not join us for the weekly TT sessions. Some of the 530i owners do come out for the Friday TT at Pappa Rich Section 19, PJ. I've seen some mightily awesome E39 530is here. Try contacting the gurus such as Haywire, EL118, ay39, Ti-TAN, initialM & harbhajan to name a few of the 530i owners.

Anyways, wow, the Fiat Multipla?

I suppose the one sold in Malaysia isn't the facelifted version since demand for Fiat cars are probably quite low in the past, and that doesn't seem to change even today with the Fiat 500 being such a rarity, unless we're talking about the occasional sightings of the Fiat Coupe.

Btw, 4 years trying to get it fixed? That's simply unacceptable! :stupid:

Once again, welcome mate!

Eggie,
Don't just contact us, buy us drinks too, hehe. The Fiat in the PAST (the eighties), was great, I.e. Fiat 131, 132, and the Alfas. Then BMW slowly dominate the market with nice to drive cars plus reliability over the Italian, the rest is history....
