So far noticed F10 have some issues but they were more of the petrol ones. Haven't heard of any F10 520d issues so far. Sometimes just can't help it especially on new models..everyone will still be learning the bugs on the car/model. It'll take a bit of time for the bugs to be sorted out..no where in the world can you get a perfect car..
So I guess your decision would be to get it now or wait for all bugs to be sorted out before buying..that might potentially delay the joy of driving one..price may also increase..if wait for 2nd hand maybe cheaper but now you've gotta sort out the bugs yourself..

Really fascinating with the look especially his back side. The curve and sleeky body changes the perception that you will like to drive this ultimate machine rather than to be driven ........ A press of push start button and the ignition start seduce his power to be driven. Sighhhhh ! the rattling sound is quite loud and dissappointed !
The memory seat can be set according to individual preferences which include side mirror, steering height as well as seat adjustable to your preferences. Just a little problem that comparable with Mercedes, Mercedes has wider view in front.
The exclusive and unique interior shows the luxury of sedan but just a pity you cannot select the colour of the dashboard except the leather seat. Acceleration is superb for a diesel engine. Try the sports , comfort and normal mode and you can feel the difference. However, I feel the seats a little harder however, I believe that's how BMW as is.
The idrive and the sensor do attract me. Now I know the usefulness of idrive " Don't leave home without it". From inside, you can't hear much abt the rattling sound except the symphony of the music.
As conclusion, to me a trade off is the rattling engine sound although after warming up the sound will lessen. Secondly, you have to occassional check your engine oil due to our suphur content. Others, I can say value for money if not for the Euro 2M.

welcome aboard man! newbie here myself. just got an F10 528i. The F10 is a great car...... been 2 month, no problems whatsoever at all for me. i know the 520d is a more value for money car, only the integral active steering doesnt come in the diesel. but it does increase both driving stability and comfort. You do know that the engine is the same engine as the 320d and X1d right? and yeah the engine rattles quite loudly outside, i know as one of my neighbors have one. however if budget is not your concern, i think its worth it to pay a lil bit more for a petrol for the long term. Anyway, thats my opinion and that being said, the F10 is a great car overall. i love it!
