[hi all.... having some problem with my e34 at the moment. if any of you guys can tell me what's the problem with my car you help is much appreciated. the problem is every other morning it's hard the start the car. changed to a new battery already recently as advised by the mechanic but the problem is still there. sometimes when i'm driving and reaching the traffic light the engine will just go dead and sometimes when driving as i try to accelerate the car will go jerky. this time around before going to another mechanic hopefully i could at least know the problem. by the way, it's a late 1996 e34 model with the gm gearbox n single vanos.][/COLOR]: pls email me at gim-dai@hotmail.com.

Hello bro, welcome to the forum, looks like no one reply ur Question, may all the sifus busy with the minyak naik.

FYI, the very first rule here is:- b4 yuo shoot any question pls introduce urself first in the newbie section, just like enter to someone's house without mention urself and start looking for help.

Trust me, all the sifu here are very helpful but u must do ur part.

hi kozek... thanks a bunch for your tips on how should i go about in these forums.... so sorry if i was quite rude as to not introduce myself to all the sifus in here.
well hope that it's not too late then. so what should i do now.... do i introduce myself here or in another section. sorry again. i'm not quite familiar going thru these forums. and thanx again kozek.

hi again

hi there mean guy... and thanks a lot for ur feedback. appreciate it alot.
at the moment my e34 is in the workshop of a friend's friend in melaka.
its been there for like 2 weeks already and last i was informed the cause of it all is that (i don't know how this guy came up with this) but the mechanic said water has seeped into the gear box, which i find it simply quite hard to believe. i might be wrong here but isn't the gm gearbox one of the most reliable ones around... correct me if i'm wrong here.
actually i'm not that in favour of this mechanic as he is not a specialist in bmw... in melaka there are quite a few of mechanics that specialises in bmw that i would have sent my car to but at that time of breakdown a family member of mine was driving it and i was out of state.

dun trust the bugger la... suddenly say water seep inside. get a second opinion, bring the car to a mechanic u trust. check the engine oil, is it muddy? if water seeped inside it means ur cylinder head may be cracked. anyway, better not do anything until u are 100 % sure. sounds to me like the mechanic is trying to make a fast buck.
and ur problem sounds like a fuel pump problem.

check Crankshaft Position Sensor.
if idling issues, check Idle Control Valve.

Water seep into gearbox or into engine compartment ? Which one ?

If engine compartment you can easily check by opening the engine oil cap or pull out the dipstick. If you got teh susu there .. yes sir! you got water in engine. This is usually preceded by symptoms of hot engine temperature.

Water in gearbox ? .. sori no experience yet

More likely fuel pump problem or water in the fuel (could be if the car has been left out for quite sometime .... also rust in the fuel tank).
