Need help diagnose my E30... Manual transmission, 316! Been fine till recently, when I drive from 0~120kmh; it behaves as per normalBut once I hit 130kmh, the engine kinda behave strangely... its like it want to accelerate and also loss of power! I could still go further but it rather unstableno guts to go for it... I feel lost of power too, as I had the car rolled back while on a cliff! hahahaAll advise are welcomeThanks - DP

abt 4 year ago...
how come clutch plate will cause power loss?? especially at high speed??

try to do a compression test to check your cyclinder chambers ..could be lossing pressure and need an overhaul soon ...

clutch plate wont give that sync-toms, if so, then the rpm will be overrun'ed...

Cheapest try, before you go more expensive top to bottom:-

first thing i see, if it's right, check the AFM, maybe be stuck and not moving fully open;

2nd - fuel regulator, then check the fuel filter(usually the cause)

3rd - dirty throttle body, clean it up

4th - check the 'blue' coolant sensor, defective readings will give wrong fueling - cheap to change RM38.00 bavarian auto

5th - check the 'tps' throttle position sensor', the open and close loop will also cause rough idling and very lean fuel at high speed/rpm - expensive RM380.00

6th - check last for compression test as suggested by Iceman 13...most expensive RM3-5k for overhaul.

cheers

no warning given...
just heard some clattering noise below the car today, smell of burnt too

Then after meeting, I can't start my car!! kena tow to a workshop
Hope its not an expensive fix... suspect it only the clutch plate

Thanks guys for your pointers!

Lastly, is there anyway to check if the clutch plate has worn out??

clutch plate test - park on a hill and then try to move half clutch slighty, if jerk and stalls - then kaput, if judder, then it's on the way out..

clattering ? wow-- let me know of the outcome..

316 mean M10 engine, running Ljet? me no mech, bt sounds like my m20b23 that time, my distri patah...

puss... park up or down slope?? still in workshop... found out radiator dislodge too!!
its a M40, year 1989 MunKong!

latest, it seems the clutch is OK still

claim loss of power is due to the spark plug cable as the plugs are rather black now
but dry... which is common I think but expensive to fix! sigh...

main issue was the dropped radiator, had to secure it back

Thanks guys!
