Hi All,Need help regarding my car's hazard light that keeps turning on by itself when the car is parked and locked.318i yr 2003.I've search the net for solution on this issue but no fix has been found on this problem.Anyone else encountered this problem?I'm sorry if this tread was posted before, just could not find it.Need help urgently. Thanks all in advance.

I think its your silent alarm issues...

Try checking the alarm switch at your bonnet :)

Good Luck if all fails the doors too...

if you go to an alarm specialist check when disconnecting the alarm module

Alarm triggered are register in the memory. Do a scan to determine which switch is the culprit.

eg.
1. front bonnet switch
2. all the 4 door switch
3. rear boot
4. sky window (if applicable)
5. Interior movement sensor
6. Tilt switch

Any of the switch will trigger the alarm. btw, tilt switch can be activate also by vibration like a heavy lorry passing by the car.

So do a scan first.

Try pressing the lock button twice when locking your car. I have the same problem but have been doing this since 3 years ago.

Ian,
When you press the lock button twice, does it really stop the lights from blinking during idle?
As this is probably an issue with either switches or some sensor (my guess)..
Do update us on this bro..
Thanks.

Kevin,
Actually, my case is caused by a sensitive interior sensor, pressing twice on the lock button disable the sensor. I may have misunderstood your problem, you sound like you have the problem even with the engine running ?

Hi Ian,
No issues while engine is running... it only happens when car is parked switched off.
Shall try out your method... :)

The double press lock is to disable the tilt alarm or the movement detector inside the car. No all car have this "movement detector" install.
