Bro,

The asking price is fair assuming that everything is complete and in good condition. For further details I would leave this to Mr. Hartge and Mr. Teejay to enlighten us all.

saw one 2.7 cc engine kosong only somewhere in ampang!!
the mechanic asking for 3k plus installation!! 2.5k without
installation!! 2.7 but not hartge laaa.....

saiful....

from what I understand but not accurate is, Hartge has certain specs for their cams, valve, conrods & other internal parts...therefore its impossible to determine the validity of the Hartge engine without taking it apart.... there are rumors however that Hartge has a specific serial numbers for the engine block, am unable to verify this...
there is a possibility of installing the rocker cover and call it Hartge H2.7.......

will try to get info from my literatures to assist in your purchase, is time a factor???

that's my thought exactly..it's wud be diff to tell except for the cam cover which can be had in chop shop once in a blue moon, but perhaps the sound of the car idling could give away the special cam inside

anyway..i'm in no rush, many close friends too have advised to go the M50 way. but for those who are interested, maybe we cud go to check the car together....if a fellow forummer finds it to die for, then he shud buy it

side track, yesterday i saw the throwing star 'togel', meaning without the turbine cover and hubcaps.....beautiful nonetheless, no scratch or dent (staggered summore)....RM1.8k only :D so, E34 fans....go and check it out....the chop shop is in Ampang area, pm me and i tell u

hartge bought engine blocks without serials from BMW
they then serialise according to engine capacity, year, manufacture etc,etc,etc- ISO practise
these numbers differ from the bmw serial number on the engines
it has about 8 numbers, but i have yet to decifer what each of the number represents

H27 was based alot from both the 2.5 and 2.7 design with max airflow and hp from the 2.5 and torque/stroker from the 2.7 with the H27S having the individual throttle design

there are a few telltale signs on the cylinder head and lower block and head gasket but most important is the ecu, you need to open it up to see the hartge logo and serial- think it would be the same as the engine block!- hardest part is to convince the chop shop fella to let you disect the ecu.....good luck

BTW h27 had bigbore throttle bodies and tuned airlow meter

Also there is a serial number on the cylinder head located at #6 cylinder above the spark plug whole.
