Happy Anniversary BMW Club Malaysia

Every year, the month of August comes with it the anniversary of the country's independance day. Likewise, every 23rd day of August brings about the anniversary of the Club's formalization under Section 7 of the Societies Act of 1966. The past years [with addition of those 'fomation' years pre formalization] has seen the Club's transformation and also its fair share of tribulations. As in life, one has to go through life's experiences to learn and savour, and hopefully, mature into adulthood. I am confident, with the right minds, attitude and fortitude of all, members and non-members alike; and with the committee leading the way with integrity and vision, the journey would be pleasant and the destination to be proud of, looking back one fine day. I like to say my thanks to the founding members and all those that fromed the initial 'group' for their insight and dedication in getting us to where we are now. My special thanks to Kahar for his unselfish efforts in getting the Club registered [which was a mean feat those days]! To the present members, non-members and the committee, have a great August celebration as I am sure our committee would have some aces up their sleeves. I think BMW Club Malaysia is more than 5 years old, more like 9 years old if I remember correctly.

The more significant part is when the Club became officially recognised club by virtue of acceptance into the International Council of BMW Clubs.

Application to be registered with ROS was one of the decision made in 2004, so that the club can have official paying members, proper banking account and can solicit for sponsorship in a proper manner

ROS approval was just milestone in the history of the club, but it did took us quite awhile to get it approved. Jeff and kahar did the chasing work, with the constitution primarily drafted by John Teh, together with the protem committee.

In actual fact, Kahar did basically all the running around and meetups with the officials in Putrajaya. My part was just initiating the process and getting the relevant officer details for the rest to follow up. Therefore, thumbs up should be to Kahar and the rest of the CM
