Gearbox n diff oil

hi guys,im curious how much of oil do u actually need to fill in for the gearbox n rear diff..i just change mine...the gearbox took up about 2litres n the diff about 1.7litres..the funny thing here is that my m40 'owner's manual' states that the capacity for the gearbox is 1.15litres n the rear diff is 0.9litres..i dont think the 'bmw manual' could b wrong...by the way my car is a manual..pls advice..tq

First of all, please update your profile so that your car model would be displayed on the left side.

I've changed my gearbox oil before and I'd say it need about 1.1 liter provide there's no wastage when the mechanic pump in the oil. I did it myself with minimal wastage.

The rear diff also the same thing.
