me too same as your problem and same model of car, but mine is some time drive in town also can smell petrol. dont know why ? any sifu can share some experince ?

I had the same problem, went to Raymond in Sunway Dsara.. he replaced the fuel pump seal under the rear sit. Resolved straight away. I changed that last month.

I've the same problem too. Sometimes make me dizzy when smell too much petrol. I think it's not comming from the air cond vent, because everytime i smell petrol, it's from the rear boot.

Lift up the rear seat and ask your nose to help u to sniff out the source.

Guy i tried to pull out my rear seat & check (clean,no spill over fuel),change my fuel pump+dont know what my mech change undercarriage fuel filter i guess..still the smell is there..come form the aircond....PENING!!!!!!!!

i had the same problem with my e46 sometime back and was resolved by changing the fuel filler cap..rm55 from bavarian auto

RM55 for the fuel filter???? its located at the under carriage rite silver in color made from aluminum?? DAMN i been charge for RM150 for that here in East Malaysia including of installation yet nothing happened..

Dear Sifu,

I also get the smell but only when i drive at high speed and also by using the sport mode....
by the way mine e-60 525i... anyone having the same problem like me and can share ur solution?

Thanks..

i had tht on my e34.. this was due to deteriorating rubber sills tht holds the fuel injector in place. replaced tht and the injector as well, and voila.

Try checking the fuel float sensor units in the boot. Mine had the same problem when I took delivery of the car. The sensors needed to be changed (one of them wasn't working), and after the sensors were changed, no more petrol smell. Good luck!

The problem could be from a carbon filter, it is located at the rear right hand side.

Part no 1.

My mechanic advised it isd the fuel pump seal, I was advised to change the fuel pump and I have noty done so, been living with it for years.
It is visible if I fill up the tank to the max, I mean really to the max, hence there is a pungent petrol smell from the rear
