Dear all,I would need a help regarding this matter...My car been replaced a new battery lately, so after that each time I start my car engine show not so smooth (In other word no vrooommm la). I just assume it's normal because after i hit the pedal, that thing just gone and become normal. I been driving for 1 week like that. Then, after that I drive to east. Unfortunately after 100km++ fuel pump blow. So after that I change it to a new one and assume it just normal. Then after that I start the engine and it just smooth like before and I continue my journey. Suddenly after I reach 120kmh in about 3KM my fuel pump fuse start to blow again. So this thing happen until I running out my spare fuse which is 5 time (5 x 3KM = 15KM). After that I just pick fuse for my wiper and install again and maintain my car at 80 kmh. I manage to arrive at destination which is 80km using the last fuse. After that, I just park my car at home and just warm up the engine at the morning. First day manage to start the engine, second day engine can't be start at all. Can crank but engine tak hidup la pulak. I done several check with the fuel system but still can't start the engine.Troubleshoot done1. Check fuel pump2. Check fuel filter3. Check fuseAt the end, my car now end up at my house. So, if anyone ever experience this kind of problem or got any opinion please do advice me. Highly appreciate your opinion. Thanks. E36 328i 1996p/s: kepala suda penin daa

lately maybe not but I do have audio system install....what can be a problem from this??

your fuse is telling you something... The fuel pump is overloading...

When the fuel is blowing, it means that there is an excessive current being drawn by the pump or possible shorting of the cables for the fuel pump.

check the current drawn by the fuel pump.

If the running current drawn by the fuel pump is less than the rated fuse, then there is a current leak via a faulty connector or breakdown of insulation resistance for the cable.

If the current drawn by fuel pump is near or more than the rated fuse, change the fuel pump immediately.

Note; the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. I hated to remind you what will happen if the fuel pump is faulty and caused a spark in the fuel tank.

The fuel pump gets it power through a relay in the fuse box. If this relay is faulty it will blow your fuse. Check this relay and the socket it sits in. It is an overloading current problem. I would change this relay first. Then check the socket and wiring from the fuse box to the fuel pump is in good condition - make sure there is no short circuit.

Will try to do all the suggestion first and see the outcome.

this fuel pump is only 3 weeks old...emmm

bro, check your relay first, ur car 328.. small relay like 318 used can't accept the spark when u started the car engine. ( I used heavy duty relay for my 325.. )

why was the pump replace?

Did you use the correct replacement part?

where did you replace the pump?

How much did you pay for the pump?

Previous pump get damage already

Did you use the correct replacement part?
Yes

where did you replace the pump?
I can say this workshop are really specialize in BMW

How much did you pay for the pump?
around RM600 for everything

Thanks for all input given, really appreciate the help.

Now the car is running already after pour some oil into the cylinder. Looks like low compression on the piston but I doubt about piston ring leak because no smoke at all observed at the exhaust.

this car really want to play around with me I guess after decide to sell it...

That is about the price for fuel sender and pump.

Since it is done by a BMW specialist workshop, would suggest that
you send it back to them for checking.

You can easily check the running current of the fuel pump by opening the
passenger rear seat and remove the black oval cover behind
the driver seat (right side).

Check the running current against the rated fuse install.

BTW, how does pouring oil into the cylinder help?
